The lovely old courage lettering and hotel sign were ripped off a few years ago during some sort of external refurb, I think its a Bass pub now. Usually a couple of real ales when I've been in lately - Summer Lightening amongst them - just a shame there are enormous TVs in every room of the place constantly blasting football out. A particular shame as the building has such potential - Jan 2007

Reader's comments -
Martin says: FOUR hand pumps and Jak knows how to keep a pint of real ale. Probably the best real ale in the whole of Wellington. Also serves home-cooked food made with fresh ingredients by Pete the resident chef
Paul says: Jak and Sheila have done a tremendous job with the Lion, and they have added yet another pump, making that 4 guest ales on at any one time. Great beer, great food and great atmosphere- in my mind the best pub in Shropshire - Jan 2006

Reader's comment - open again after a major refurb, already popular for meals, particularly as its non-smoking throughout and more wheelchair accessible than before. Two handpulls with Abbot Ale and IPA when I went at Christmas, but these didn't taste brilliant, and otherwise a bit of a keg-fest - jAN 2007
