Olde Boote Inn

A rare Robinsons pub, with a nice welcoming feel, comfortable, and with some distinctive old panelling, nicely carved to tell you you're in the Olde Boote Inn. Multi-roomed pub with a car park and accommodation. Situated just opposite the medieval Whittington Castle with it's moat. Food served. Tel - 01691 662250  Visited Sep 2009   Pub website

- It's a remarkably large place and seems to be set up mainly for diners now (making most use of its junction location I guess) - Jan 2009

Narrow Boat

Freehouse. Not actually in Whittington but a couple of miles down the road towards Ellesmere. The pub is long and thin like a narrow boat and is next to the Shropshire Union Canal. Beer very good and good value food served. Most of the pub is given over to a restaurant area. Car park is hard to spot at night - it's easy to miss it and go sailing past. Tel - 01691 661051. Readers`comments - Had a pint of Cottage's Full Steam Ahead, which was very rather excellent. 5/5 no problem. The staff were very friendly and the place was lively - Jan 2009

Penrhos Arms

Marstons pub. Restaurant type lounge and a bar with a pool table. Beams. Food served. We thought the beer was just a bit bland - well kept but just not very distinctive. Situated on Station Road. Tel - 01691 679977. Visited Mar 2007

White Lion

Freehouse. Bombadier very tasty and well kept. The Lion has had quite a makeover since our last visit - now with a dining conservatory. Car park. Food served - although on our last visit we were disappointed with our meals. Situated on Castle Street. Tel - 01691 662361. Visited Sep 2009
Spitfire
Readers comment - Now completely refurbished with conservatory for dining overlooking pub garden and part of Whittington Castle, small bistro style lounge, other room for dining overflow, small room with two comfy sofas and good size public bar. As real ale goes - Bass and Bombardier - both good according to most people. Open from 11 a.m. weekdays, all day. Food good and booking probably required in evenings at weekends and Sundays. Food served 12 'til 2 and 6 'til 9 weekdays, 12 'til 4 on Sundays. It is my local, for perhaps three afternoon/evening sessions a week - July 2006 (Neil)
- They had Spitfire on tap, which was okay I guess. 3/5. This pub was empty when I was there - Jan 2009
