Freehouse. There is no pub name on the outside - but The Dog is also known as the Davenport Arms. Food served. Car park around the back up a bit of a slope. Pleasant and airy pub with a good selection of real ales. Friendly pub cat. Situated on the main street in Worfield, off the A454 east of Bridgnorth. Visited May 2000

Reader's comment. Seeing photographs of the Dog and the Wheel remind me of the days in 1944 when the enlisted men of the 90th Infantry Division Artillery, stationed in front of Davenport House, were restricted to the Dog while the commissioned officers enjoyed the Wheel.  At that time, the Dog still had furniture that had been in place for more than a hundred years. Reader's comment. Problems in July 2005 when the pub was closed for a while following complaints about traffic problems due to the number of motorbikes entering and leaving the car park onto the busy A454
