Seeing photographs of the Dog and the Wheel remind me of the days in 1944 when the enlisted men of the 90th Infantry Division Artillery, stationed in front of Davenport House, were restricted to the Dog while the commissioned officers enjoyed the Wheel. At that time, the Dog still had furniture that had been in place for more than a hundred years. Nov 2008 |

| Reader's comment. Problems in July 2005 when the pub was closed for a while following complaints about traffic problems due to the number of motorbikes entering and leaving the car park onto the busy A454 |
