Press releases - RNI 1999

Broadcasts commence from LV-18!

This morning, Tuesday 3rd August, transmissions started from the radioship bringing RNI to the East Essex area and beyond. Following test transmissions (below) just after midnight, until 6 a.m. when Alan West opened up RNI for the first time since 1974.

Please see other updates for more information on RNI in 1999, including ferry-trips to come on board and our programme schedules for this week.

Testing, testing.!.!.!.

With the records edited out, here is an extract from our test transmissions earlier today, 3rd August.

This is the happiest place.!.!.!.

Again with the records edited out, here is how Alan West started regular programmes from RNI in 1999.

RNI Back on-air!

We were off-air as from 16:25, Tuesday but now we're back. The licence conditions for the station state the precise location for the ship and we could not broadcast until we were at that position.

Thanks for all the messages of support during this difficult time.
