Synchronous motor clock controllers

In recent years, many clock movements have been replaced by synchronous electric motor units, which use the frequency of the mains electrical supply to provide an accurate timing source.
However, on a typical supply, this will only keep a clock to within a few minutes a year, and at regular intervals, the clock will need to be adjusted as well as having to make the BST/GMT time changes manually.

The Auto-Sync unit addresses this by generating a battery backed, mains frequency output that is referenced to the Rugby Atomic Clock radio broadcasts (MSF), or the GPS system. This provides a consistently accurate drive to existing electric motor installations, and can provide various ways of effecting local time changes to in line with daylight saving changes
  • Accurate regulation of the electric motor through monitoring, comparison and adjustment with the MSF or GPS signal
  • Using the MSF or GPS signal to effect correct winter/summertime adjustments.
  • Hour strike output to one electro-hammer control with night silencing options included as standard. Westminster and ting-tang quarter outputs for up to 8 bells available as optional extras.
  • Battery backed so that normal operation is maintained during power cuts that will run for periods up to 24hrs.
  • Internal Calendar controlled lighting outputs for energy efficient dial or surround illumination available as optional extras.
  • Includes auto-restart feature that shuts down the unit and the clock in the event of power failures longer than 24hr's and restarts at the correct time.
  • Internal crystal-based clock is constantly calibrated through the MSF/GPS reference that maintains accurate running during the event of an MSF/GPS signal failure.
  • Ease of fitting - the unit is connected between the mains supply and the clock supply with no modification required to the existing installation. Output to bell hammer control via easy wire connectors.
  • Available in 240v 50Hz, 120v 60Hz GPS controlled version available by June 2003
  • Unit size - 200m/m x 200m/m x 130m/m, steel cased, approximately 2.5Kg, wall or floor mounting
