17th July 2003 - Update

After exams and T In The Park I've finally been able to start updating the site. As promised, I've added photos and details of the gig at Bristol Academy at the end of May. Last year, I created a mini-site dedicated to the gig held at Bristol, and so I've updated the site to contain details of this year's gig too. A number of photos can be found on the site, along with the setlist. Hopefully I'll get around to writing a review of the gig sometime. The site can be found at www.bristol.uni.cc or by clicking on the link below.

In other news, Maybe Tomorrow is due to be released next Monday, the 21st. Details will shortly be available in the releases section.

I hope to add details of the album signing in Cardiff, although a little late, but I have got a few good photos to put here on the site.

23rd April 2003 - Album and Single News

I have now updated the releases section to include track listings and cover art for both the new single and album. If you haven't yet heard the studio version of Madame Helga you can do so now in the Special Features section.

At the end of this week I'll be going back to University, which possibly means no updates until the the start of July. There is a chance that I may be able to update the site from there, or may come home for a weekend, so keep checking for news which I will add as soon as I get a chance. Don't forget the new photos section, which can be accessed from the homepage and features over 100 photos of the band.

31st March 2003 - Site Updates

As promised, I've finally got around to making some much needed site updates. The biggest and best of these is a brand new Photos section, containing over 100 photos of the band for your viewing pleasure. A link to this can be found on the homepage. Also, I've tidied up most of the rest of the site, just making some general improvements. I hope to be able to spend more time over the next few weeks, and also bring you the latest news as it happens. Although the site hasn't been updated for a while, it will hopefully be soon back to its former self, bringing you lots of exclusive news and features!

30th March 2003 - Latest Updates

Now that I'm back home for Easter, I'll hopefully have a chance to update the site and add some new stuff. There's a lot of interesting news to do with the album at the moment, most of which you'll probably know about. The new album is titled 'You Gotta Go There To Come Back' and is due to be released on June 2nd 2003. It is set to be released in both a standard and 'Special' editions, the special probably featuring enhanced material, or even a bonus CD/DVD as many recent albums have done. The first single will be 'Madame Helga', the live recording of which was exclusively brought to you by this site last year, and is due for release on May 19th 2003. No track listing details are known for the album or single yet, but the single is due to be released on 2 CDs, DVD and 7". The studio version is available to listen to in the 'Special Features' section now.

Hopefully by the time I return to University I will have managed to add some new stuff to the site. I should have photos from Cable TV, where I was luck enough to meet Stuart long with the guests Edith Bowman and David Dickinson.

29th December 2002 - Happy New Year

I'd like to wish all of the visitors to this website a very Happy New Year. Sorry again for the distinct lack of updates recently which, as I explained in the last update, is due to being away at University and not being able to edit and upload pages. I haven't given up on the site, and if I get time I hope to update the site while I'm at home. Below is a quick summary of recent news:

New Album:    The new album has been recorded and is due to be released around May, hopefully with a single around March.

Cable TV:        A second series of Stuart's show 'Cable TV' is set to be recorded in February. For more details and how to obtain tickets visit the programme's official website

22nd September 2002 - Latest News

Not a lot of news lately. Firstly, a song written by Kelly is featured on the new Paul Weller album 'Illumination'. The track 'Call Me No. 5' is performed as a duet with Paul. The album was released this week, and initial copies come with a free DVD. To buy it follow the link to eil.com in the Shop.

This may unfortunately be the last site update for a while. I'm off to University next week for the start of my first year, and as yet I have no idea whether I will be able to access suitable software for updating the site. I will however be more than happy to continue to answer email queries (see Contact section for address) and I may occasionally post news stories through the Guestbook if I am unable to any other way. Thanks to everybody for their continued support for the 3 years the site has been running. This is by no means the end of the site, but updates will probably be fewer. I do hope to add a major new section to the site as soon as I can, which will probably be during my Christmas holidays, so keep a look out for details.

20th August 2002 - V2002 and Cable TV Details

Once again, sorry about the lack of updates recently, but I'm back from everything now to keep you updated with all the latest news! As I mentioned, I was present at the Weston Park leg of the V2002 festival on Saturday where the Stereophonics performed. They performed an hour and a half set consisting of most of JEEP, a few favourites from the first two albums, and new song Madam Helga (listen to it on the Bristol mini-site, see below). The gig also marked the 10th anniversary of the death of the 'Local Boy In The Photograph', with Kelly dedicating the song to his memory. All in all it was a good gig, but a little disappointing due to the length of the set, a fault of the festival organizers rather than the band, and their encore not being as good as usual, comprising of just Traffic, and Hurry Up And Wait being a rather strange finishing track! Other highlights of the festival for myself included energetic performances by both Starsailor and Doves.

Also, as I mentioned before, I managed to attend the filming of an episode of Cable TV last month. The guests for the show were Status Quo and Peter Stringfellow with his girlfriend. Also a local female singer performed a short acoustic set for some of the audience (including myself) who were in the 'Guest Lounge', with one song to be broadcast. The show is a music and chat show, with Stuart making a funny presenter, throwing jokes as often as possible into the humorous interviews. Things to watch out for in that particular episode include an audience air guitar contest, an obsessed Status Quo fan and Stuart and Peter Stringfellow having fun with a few novelty thongs, but I'll let you find out what that was all about by watching it! The series is set to be broadcast around October on Friday nights on BBC2 Wales, possibly to be shown on national TV at a later date, but I will provide exact details when they are available. The makers of the show are already keen to film a second series, and once again I will provide details as and when they are available. I was lucky enough to meet Stuart before and after filming. He was as friendly as everyone says he is and was happy to spend time talking to fans. Click on the link below to see some photos that I took there.

14th August 2002 - Update

Firstly I'd really like to apologize to those of you who've been looking for news here recently - I've been very busy recently, going on holiday and many other things. Before I went away I was lucky enough to get tickets to Cable TV, and meet Stuart afterwards!! Next week I'll have my photos back hopefully and get them up on the site. Also I'll add some details about the band's V2002 performance which I will be attending on Saturday. I'll try and give a proper update early next week, but at the moment I've got A Level results to worry about!!!

10th July 2002 - Lots of news!

Once again, I would like to apologize for the lack of recent site and news updates, due to amongst other things, the Bristol gig and seeing Oasis at Finsbury Park!

The Bristol Mini-Site is now up and running. Click on the link below to access the site, which contains loads of photos from the gig, the setlist and you can listen exclusively to the new song 'Madam Helga'. The track will appear in the 'Special Features' section in time, but for now it will remain exclusive to the Bristol site, so go and have a look!!!

Over the next few weeks, Stuart Cable will be filming a series of television programmes entitled 'Cable TV'. The show will be a mix of chat and live music performances and is being filmed at South Wales' 'Pop Factory' studio. If you wish to apply for free tickets, send an email to: cabletv@thepopfactory.com or ring 07967 302150.

The band will be performing a second warm-up gig this year, this time for the V2002 festival. The warm-up gig will take place at Edinburgh Corn Exchange on August 15th. Unfortunately, all tickets sold out within minutes, but you may be lucky enough to find some on ebay - at a price!

3rd July 2002 - Bristol Mini Site

I am currently working on a 'mini-site' for the Bristol gig, which will also contain details of the band's Glastonbury performance. If you have anything that you could contribute to the site, including photos and reviews, then please get in touch via the contact section. Coming soon to the this site will be the performance of new track 'Madam Helga' taken from Glastonbury on Saturday. The link will also appear on the Bristol site when it is up and running.

29th June 2002 - Bristol gig

Sorry about the lack of updates recently due to exams. I hope to get lots more done on here really soon, including lots of info about last night's Bristol Academy gig. It was a great gig, as all who were there will tell you. A fantastic set list included all of the usual favourites, plus covers of the Beatles' 'Don't Let Me Down' and The Who's 'Substitute'. It also saw the debut of a fantastic new song - 'Madam Helga' which is likely to be on their next album - and it rocks!!! They may play it at Glastonbury, so look out for it tonight on BBC Choice. I'll have more details about the set list and maybe some reviews, plus loads of photos over the next week.

7th June 2002 - 'Secret gig'

Stereophonics are playing a special secret gig for fans at the Bristol Academy on Friday 28th June 2002. The event will be filmed for inclusion on a possible live album, which may be released later this year. Tickets are priced £17.50 and are available from 10am on Friday 7th June on a first come, first served basis. For tickets go to the click on the link below.

30th May 2002 - Stereophonics to headline Slane 2002

After months of rumour, Stereophonics have confirmed that they will headline Slane 2002 on Saturday 24th August 2002. This performance will be the band's biggest ever show in Ireland, and it comes one week after their headlining slot at V2002.

Stereophonics attended the official launch for Slane 2002, held in Dublin yesterday, 29th May 2002. Kelly Jones said at the launch: "You look at the legends who've headlined Slane and I think festival-wise, it's one of the biggest deals around and we're absolutely thrilled to be doing it."

Tickets go on sale at 9.00am on 15th June. Support comes from Nickelback, Doves, Counting Crows and The Revs.

27th May 2002 - 'A Day At The Races' - Out Now!

After months of waiting, the live DVD/Video of last summer's Cardiff and Donington shows has finally been released. Having seen the preview on Saturday, I can say it is worth getting, but it shouldn't have taken so long. You can buy it now in the Shop section from Eil. The release features 16 tracks from the Cardiff gig, with bonus footage from both. The DVD also adds bonus tracks and a photo gallery.

14th May 2002 - 'A Day At The Races' Previews

Before the 27th May release of 'DATR', the following UCI cinemas will be screening the show at 7pm:

Friday 24th May:           Cardiff

Saturday 25th May:       Greenwich, Swansea, Printworks Manchester, Edinburgh, Blanchardstown Dublin.

1st May 2002 - NEXT album news!

In today's NME, it was revealed that Kelly has written 16 new tracks, and recorded demos for 6 of them. They are due to start recording in October, hopefully leading to a Summer 2003 release. Look out for more details!

Today also sees a couple of site updates. I have finally added Vegas Two Times to the 'Releases' section (a month late, sorry!). I have also formed a new partnership with online retailer CD Wow. Their prices are far better than Streets Online, with all single chart CDs £8.99 or less including worldwide delivery, and some great offers. For a short while, they have the original version of JEEP for just £3.99! Perfect if you have Handbags & Gladrags (or don't want it) plus you get bonus CD ROM footage! They also stock a wide range of DVDs, with the 3 previous Stereophonics DVDs for just £9.99 each. It's well worth a look. You can access the site through the 'Shop' section, or using the link below.

28th April 2002 - 'Day At The Races' - Exclusive details!

I now have the full details for next month's 'A Day At The Races' DVD. The bonus footage is confirmed as:

'Extended documentary footage from Donington and Cardiff. Cutting Room floor: Last Of The Big Time Drinkers, A Thousand Trees, Hurry Up And Wait. Photo gallery. Multi Camera angles.'

The actual gig will comprise solely of Cardiff footage with tracks being:  Local Boy In The Photograph, More Life In A Tramps Vest, Traffic, T-Shirt Suntan, The Bartender And The Thief, Just Looking, Pick A Part That's New, I Wouldn't Believe Your Radio, I Stopped To Fill My Car Up, Mr. Writer, Have A Nice Day, Step On My Old Size Nines, Roll Up And Shine, Everyday I Think Of Money, Watch Them Fly Sundays; Vegas Two Times.

21st April 2002 - 'Day At The Races' Cover Art

Although there is little information regarding the new DVD release as yet, I have managed to track down the cover artwork for you to see. Enjoy!

16th April 2002 - Webchat

Last week, Kelly and Stuart took part in a webchat on the BBC Top Of The Pops website. One interesting thing was mentioned was that the band will be headlining a gig at Slane Castle. More news on that when it's available. They mentioned that they will sart recording their next album around October. Click the picture below to see the transcript of the webchat.

Top Of The Pops

Although it hasn't been announced yet, there are rumors that the band may be playing Glastonbury. Also rumored is a live album before the end of the year. Watch this space!

10th April 2002 - Tony's baby

Tony's (the band's keyboard player) wife gave birth to a baby girl called Molly on March 17th. He is likely to be playing for the band's slot in the '4 Scott' gig at the Scala next week, but Stuart, Richard and Scott may not be, as it is only going to be for around 20 minutes, and is quite likely to be performed acoustically.

7th April 2002 - Vegas chart position

Vegas Two Times entered the chart at a disappointing Number 23 today. It was hardly surprising, with no new B Sides, a live video and the whole live gig being shown in the same week. No cassette was released, and many people do not have DVD players, which all adds up to a bit of a chart flop. The only singles which have charted lower are More Life, Local Boy (original release) and Looks Like Chaplin, which was a limited release anyway. It seems that V2 had better sort things out with the Day At The Races video or the band could find themselves with lots of disappointed fans.

30th March 2002 - Day At The Races Televised + MTV FANatic

It has been announced that 'A Day At The Races' is to be televised next Saturday, 6th April, on BBC Choice, at 10.50pm. As previously announced, the DVD and Video will not be available until May 27th for 'technical reasons'. Surely showing it on TV before it is released will reduce sales. How often is a film shown on TV before the video is released??? At least it will give us fans a chance to see the show.

Also, the Stereophonics will be part of an MTV FANatic show, where fans will be given the chance to meet the band. For full details click on the logo below.

25th March 2002 - Day At The Races Postponed (twice!!!)

Those of you who received the postcard for Vegas Two Times today will realize that the release date for 'A Day At The Races' is now down as 29th April, which is bad enough as it has already been postponed a few times. On top of that, the official site was updated today with a new release date of 27th May! That's twice it's been postponed in a few days. It was originally planned for release last November.  Let's just hope that it will be worth the wait.

21st March 2002 - Vegas DVD Cover

As well as the CD cover of Vegas Two Times (see below), an image of the DVD Single has become available, although only a poor quality image is currently available.

Also, check out the 'Special Features' section for a new exclusive interview with Richard Jones from this morning on my local radio station.
