As well as achieving the most efficient fuel consumption figure at the GTBA engine efficiency competition, an innovative feature of the AJ/TJT 3000 Eagle is its bearing pre-load arrangements.The shaft floats between two pre-load springs, one behind the front bearing, and the other in front of the rear bearing here. The clearance of the compressor front face from its cover has to be very small to maintain compressor efficiency and this means that the permissible amount of shaft movement is also very small. Employing unique pre-load springs that have high spring rate ensures just this.

 

Another interesting innovation unique to the TJT 3000 v2 is the incorporation of a small scavenging fan, immediately behind the rear bearing in front of the turbine wheel. This additional forced air-cooling design greatly contributes to extended bearing life of 100 hours or better, as well as substantially cooler operating temperatures.

Evolutionary features abound in the new TJT 3000 v2 Eagle. The Eagle also incorporates a larger compressor wheel; at 70mm this is an increase of 4mm in diameter over the older KJ-66 design.

Other substantial design improvements include a revolutionary new optimized combustion chamber giving 15% better fuel efficiency than the previous version together with a revised compressor diffuser and exhaust cone design refinements to take advantage of the much cooler temperatures.
