This is one of the known leaflets.
Its title is "People! We are in slavery. We must ask ourselves the following
questions:". It then goes on to pose a number of questions:
-
"We are not the owners of our own
shops?
-
All the vendors, one after another,
had to close their shops and were sent to harsh labour camps far away?
-
We cannot use our own money to buy
the things we need?
-
We are not free to consume everything
we have bought such as food, clothing, soap and other sundries?
Where is the promise of life improvement
from the Workers Party?
Why? Why?"
The illustration shows a well-stocked
shop as it used to be.
The insignia shows an arrow,
just fired from a bow, smashing a red hammer and sickle. The words underneath
are "Long live freedom". Many people especially in the rural areas would
identify more with the bow and arrow as a weapon than the gun. It seems
likely that this is the insignia of a false dissident organisation. The
use of colour in interesting - would an underground group be expected to
have the resources to produce in colour?
The text provides the answers
to the questions posed by the obverse of the leaflet. It includes:
"Here are the answers:
Our Government has waged the
war to kill the people in the South!
Agricultural and industrial
products were sent to China in exchange for weapons to be used for killing
our Southern brothers!
We must ask for our right to
own what we have worked laboriously for!
We must act for our survival!"
