Blackadder style comedy set for the autumn
Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders are to play sex-crazed society women in their first-ever sitcom together Let Them Eat Cake. The six episode series was written by Peter Learmouth (Surgical Spirit) and is based in the Palace of Versailles in France, Court of Louis XVI.
It is home to Columbine, Comtesse DeVache (French for cow), played by Saunders. French takes the role of her maid Lisette. Kathy Burke and Alison Steadman also Star.
Saunders spends her time collecting dirt on everyone in Society, "Since the best lovers are taken and the fashions make her look like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon." Those who plot her downfall have to contend with the "ever loyal" French who selflessly "tries out" all of her mistresses lovers.
