My philosophy of Web page design.
One of the most noticeable things about the most popular Web pages is how exciting they try to be, with lots of the latest gizmos, dramatic colours, etc. I feel in some cases they seem to have been designed by a committee, rather than an individual. They feel a bit like newspapers, with headlines and short paragraphs - slickly designed to pull the viewer in quickly, and to be disposed of in a day or two when a better widget is available. Great fun, but not really my style! My pages are not really intended to be slick, but to have more of a "handmade" feel. Hence most of the images, backgrounds, music clips, etc. are created (somewhat sloppily, in some cases) by me. (This is an excuse!)
I guess I am aiming at sustaining interest, rather than maximising "hits"!
