Roger's Philosophy Page

I thought I would start a philosophy page: it seemed a good idea at the time.

This is not intended to be the arid discussion of a textbook, but more as a prod to stimulate the interflow of ideas!

Here are a few ideas which I feel are worth discussing. Please feel free to comment, disagree or whatever. They are not fully formed arguments, I could be persuaded they are wrong. They are not intended to cause offence, to be racist, fascist, or any other sort of -ist.

Art is fashion
The key to survival is random action
Only human beings are good/evil
The major threat to society is the individual
Society has rights, individuals use rights granted by society
As the power of individuals increases, so the threat to society increases. Eventually, so many individuals will want to excercise their power to change society, that society will be unable to survive, and anarchy will rule. Is this a good thing? If so, for whom?
Computers may one day become more intelligent than human beings
Will computers then be good/evil?

A good source of philosophy links is the Philosophy Archive, or you may wish to visit The Thinking Man's Minefield. I particularly like the title of that one; ideas, and clearly expressed and readily communicated ideas are a minefield

It seems to me that computers stimulate a lot of philosophical discussion on the nature of thought, life, the universe, etc. I'm sure that, given time, I can find good discussion forums/user groups which may be more appropriate than this page, but in the meantime I'll add links here as I find them.
