Colin Touchin.
EMG Symphony Orchestra has been associated with Colin for
some years. He has regularly travelled to Devon to take workshops with
brass, woodwind and occasional the whole symphony orchestra.
In 2000 Colin was commissioned to write a new piece entitled 'Dome'
for Brass, timpani and percussion shortly after his return from the city
of Hiroshima, Japan. This stunning work was premiered at a recent Mahler
concert in Exeter Cathedral and received much critical acclaim.

Gordon Langford.
EMGSO has been associated
with Gordon for many years. His wife, Elaine is one of our leading
second violinists. Gordon has kindly allowed us to perform various
works of his - Fantasia on Themes from 'La Boheme', 'Four
Movements for String Orchestra', and his delightful Trumpet Concerto
featured in an Exeter Concert some years ago with Crispian
Steele Perkins as soloist. Gordon has played in the trombone
section with the orchestra both home and abroad and is a constant source
of inspiration to all members.

Jonathan Hart.
His short and
exciting new work for string orchestra
'Out of the
Light' was commissioned by EMGSO in March 2002 and received two performances in July
2002 receiving much critical acclaim. Jonathan
has completed his
Postgraduate Studies in Music at Exeter University. He plays viola
in EMGSO and now lives in Somerset. |
