A good turnout of cars, including a return to F1 racing for 343 Barry Heath.

Heat 1 was for the white and yellow grades, with a dramatic start as a back straight melee caused 470 Rob Farrell to hit the fence before 111 Mike Williamson T-boned 101 David Waterhouse to clamber over him, Williamson’s front bumper wrecking Waterhouse’s aerofoil. 337 Dave Willis was forced over a turn 3 marker tyre to wheelie as the race was yellow flagged. 238 Richard Bryan set the pace on the restart ahead of 428 Richard Regan and 307 Tim Warwick. 73 Rob Cowley went too fast into turn 1 and collected 351 John Frost and 158 James Clement, and they all clattered into the turn 1 fence. 244 Mick Rogers and 198 Nigel Whalley traded hits, as 98 Les Spencer fenced 330 Graham Wagstaff. 238 Bryan lost control on turn 2 to lose time, before tangling with the backmarking 353 Nigel Friswell on turn 3, allowing 428 Regan to take the lead, Regan going on for the win chased home by 307 Warwick. 306 Ian Noden dished out a last bend hit on 223 Garry Townsend in the battle for fifth.

496 Neil Holcroft headed the second heat before passed by 351 Frost. 198 Whalley gave chase before going ahead, as 4 Dan Johnson fenced 84 Tom Harris on turn 1. Johnson went on to whack 172 Micky Randell, sending him crashing into 463 James Morris, the latter hitting the fence, as 21 Mark Gilbank clattered 212 Danny Wainman into the home straight fence. A turn 4 tangle delayed 4 Johnson and 1 Andy Smith amongst others, with 97 Murray Harrison coming up the order. With three laps to run, 97 Harrison overhauled 198 Whalley, and he went on to take the flag.

The track had been well watered for heat 3, making it a little slippery in the opening laps, which caught out initial leader 238 Bryan as he spun on turn 2. 337 Dave Willis took over, before being shoved wide by 338 Chris Brocksopp, as 192 Luke Dennis and 380 Steven Cayzer spun on turn 3. 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr and 390 Stuart Smith Jnr traded hits, as 53 John Lund felt 259 Paul Hines’ front bumper, Lund returning the hit into the pit bend sending Hines into the fence. 338 Brocksopp then tangled with 136 Jacklin on turn 4, 321 Ed Neachell taking over the lead, with 390 Smith moving into second and 515 Wainman third. 136 Jacklin hit the home straight fence, but despite being in a potentially dangerous position with his thumb down, no yellow flags were shown. 390 Smith overhauled 321 Neachell, with 515 Wainman on his tail, Smith then clipping a turn 1 marker tyre which came onto the track. This was pushed further round the bend by 380 Cayzer, as 390 Smith was slightly baulked on the last lap. Into the last bend, 515 Wainman launched at Smith and spun him round, Wainman getting caught up too, allowing 16 Matt Newson to sneak through on the inside to steal the win, with Smith and Wainman recovering to take third and fourth.

By the time the consolation was run, the forecast rain had arrived, making for a sludgy race, with 238 Bryan setting the pace. 322 James Neachell and 73 Cowley went fencebound on turn 1, with 73 Cowley taking out the passing 212 Wainman as he pulled onto the infield. 343 Heath collected the home straight fence, with the yellow flags coming out for Heath. 238 Bryan headed the restart, but spun handing over to 158 Clement. However, Clement then spun on turn 3 in the ever increasing difficult conditions, handing the lead to wet shale expert 215 Geoff Nickolls. However, 338 Brocksopp shunted Nickolls into turn 1, Nickolls tangling with 48 Garry Fox, with Brocksopp going on to take the chequered.

The track was scraped before the Final to attempt to remove much of the ‘slurry’ on the racing lines but the the rain continued to fall. The race was devoid of three qualifiers, with 158 Clement coming in as a reserve. 307 Warwick set the early pace, as 1 Smith fenced 515 Wainman on the pit bend, Wainman reversing Smith into the fence also and they both lost time. The race was then halted with 280 Colin Nairn stranded on the back straight, with 307 Warwick still leading for the restart ahead of 244 Rogers. Rogers started to put in a challenge, but then dropped back, as 4 Johnson found an amazing amount of grip compared to everyone else and started flying round the very wet track. 380 Cayzer took over the lead, as 4 Johnson came past and shoved Cayzer out. However, Johnson was a lap down, having spun in the early stages, as 1 Smith and 515 Wainman clashed once again. Wainman then ran into the spun 35 Neil Shenton on turn 3, to cause another restart. Just 13 cars were left, with 84 Tom Harris now leading, as 338 Brocksopp fenced 11 Neil Scriven on turn 1. 84 Harris kept going over the remaining distance to claim victory.

Unfortunately, with the track in such a condition it was decided to cancel the National, although this may be run at the November meeting.

World Wide Rebellion (36 cars): 361, 23, 41, 656, 1, 183, 67, 783, 470, 78, 8, 269, 395, 40, 999,170, 744, 589, 786, 215, nof.

Heat 2 (22 cars): 656, 81, 23, 8, 783, 67, 2, 1, 170, 183.

Final (24 cars): 23, 1, 25, 656, 35, 41, 30, 356, 176, 395.

All qualifiers bar 216 Matt Hyde lined up for the World Wide Rebellion, and it turned into a superb race, with the battle for the lead right to the last bend. 2 Tony McCarthy and 361 Steve Shaw were on the front row, while behind, 23 Mark Rodgers and 25 Anthony Masters made up row 2. 2 McCarthy was rather keen to get away on the start, but got away with it, 361 Shaw putting in the bumper hard into the pit bend for the first time to shove McCarthy wide. 23 Rodgers moved into second, as 86 Chris Stearn and 381 Jason Cramphorn tangled to hit the home straight fence. 23 Rodgers bumpered 361 Shaw into turn 3, as the race was cautioned for Stearn and Cramphorn. 589 Brian Wood and 788 Stephen Mallinson tangled on the restart to hit the home straight fence, as 361 Shaw led from 23 Rodgers. Shaw started encountering backmarkers, and when trying to pass 40 Steve Featherstone on the outside of the town bend, 23 Rodgers took his chance and bumpered Featherstone, sending him wide into Shaw, and Rodgers took the lead. This left Shaw to battle with 2 McCarthy for second, with 23 Rodgers now a good few lengths ahead. 53 Graham Charlesworth joined the fight over second place, as 76 John Gavin hit the home straight armco. 361 Shaw spun 53 Charlesworth on turn 2, allowing 2 McCarthy to briefly take over second place, but 361 Shaw was soon back with him to retake second. The race was then halted once again with loose wheels on both turn 2 and the home straight. 23 Rodgers’ advantage was lost, and he now had 361 Shaw right behind for the restart. 2 McCarthy soon pulled onto the infield with mechanical problems, before 21 James Spittle ground to a halt on the home straight, where 81 Lyndon Rushby and 555 James Price crashed hard into him causing another stoppage. All drivers emerged unscathed, with 361 Shaw’s car getting rather smoky as he waited for the race to restart. When the race got going again, Shaw challenged Rodgers for the lead a few times, Rodgers managing to keep him at bay, before Shaw dished out a harder hit into the pit bend, and they went round the turn side by side. Shaw emerged in the lead, with Rodgers launching at Shaw into the last bend to half spin him. They both got going again, with Shaw just outdragging Rodgers to the line to take the title, Rodgers then T-boning Shaw on the pit bend after the chequered. Rodgers was rather annoyed after the race had ended, and it transpired he thought there was still another lap to run.

It had started to rain for heat 2, with 170 Craig Thompson leading the opening laps, before he spun on turn 3. 656 Adam Joyce took over the lead, as 2 McCarthy spun on turn 2, before recovering to tangle with 783 Stephen Thatcher down the home straight, Thatcher wrecking his front wheel. 656 Joyce kept going on the slippery track to claim the win.

The Final was run over a reduced number of laps due to the heavy downpour and the track now extremely wet, with 23 Rodgers taking the lead from 1 Keith Murphy. 2 McCarthy spun when lying in third, as 656 Joyce also spun on turn 1. 67 Andy Passey spun on the back straight, nearly taking out 23 Rodgers as he rejoined. 215 Ian Trevarthen collected the fence hard at the end of the home straight, before 25 Masters clashed with 786 John Hoole on the home straight. 23 Rodgers maintained his lead to the line for victory.

A great entry of cars, the turnout beating last year’s field, with outstanding/unusual cars being 226 Brian Youngson’s smart Wolseley 15/60, 10 Michael Forrester and 223 Brett Harrison both in Wolseley 15/50s, 445 Johnny Fairnie a Ford Prefect, which unfortunately never raced, and 286 Michael Lee in a Standard Ensign. Bubble Oxfords came from 179 Stu Nightingale and 761 James Perry, while 323 James Riddell had a very unusual NSU 110 (rear engined), which won the rarest car award. 205 Alex Ganter had a bubble Cambridge hearse, 706 Sean McKnight a Ford Classic, 662 Edward Mees a Sunbeam Rapier, while 528 John Fogg had a Phase VII/VIII Hillman Minx complete with zimmer frame on the roof, this being Fogg’s last meeting before he retires. The smartest car award went the way of 588 Anthony Bland’s Super Minx.

Heat 1 was soon halted after 731 Shaun Dyer was spun and rolled on the home straight, but not before 323 Riddell’s NSU was wrecked on turn 2 after being hit hard by 220 Tom Pavitt to cause a small pile up. The restart saw 467 Jon Plater get spun on turn 4 to cause a small pile up, with 179 Nightingale being spun hard into the back of Plater. 223 Harrison fenced 617 Danny Everett before jacking 509 Les Dolan on turn 2. 179 Nightingale and 205 Ganter were both spun at speed on the home straight, before 237 Lee Milhouse jacked the fenced 140 Neil Breary on turn 4. The already jacked 179 Nightingale was jacked higher still by 395 Joe Donworth, as 509 Dolan was further wrecked on turn 3. 179 Nightingale got in a revenge hit to 395 Donworth, as 73 Tony Sims stayed out of trouble to claim the win.

Heat 2 started with 279 Andrew Swallow spinning on turn 4, where he was jacked by 519 John Scorse, as 747 Chris Pearse ran hard into 226 Youngson, the race then having to be halted with Pearse catching fire. The restart saw 4 Johnny Easthope spinning to take a hit from 519 Scorse on the home straight, as 295 Graham Heywood took a naughty detour onto the infield to jack the parked up 05 Carlos Perez. 226 Youngson was spun and hit head-on by 841 Phil Jennings down the home straight, Youngson clipping the passing 666 Dan Lucas, sending Lucas over into a high speed roll. The race continued with Lucas back on all fours, 219 David Clarke weighing into the spun 825 Luke Preece on turn 1, before 519 Scorse blitzed Clarke. 666 Lucas was jacked by 920 Simon Sparrow, as the lively 519 Scorse totalled 900 Dean Barrell on the home straight, the pair getting airborne. 666 Lucas got in a revenge hit to 920 Sparrow on turn 1, before being jacked by 501 Steve Kaye, as 262 Jason Barnard claimed the win.

The Championship was next, with a massive 48 car grid forming. 917 John Millen set the early pace before being passed by 262 Barnard. 205 Ganter was jacked on the home straight, before 272 Gary Murrell steamed 528 Fogg hard into the back of 179 Nightingale to jack the latter’s bubble Oxford once again, as a pile up and jacking train formed on turn 4 as 648 Kyle Guyler was spun into the fence, and 179 Nightingale collected 920 Sparrow. 322 Paul Brown then jacked Nightingale, before 369 Graham Chapman piled into him. 226 Youngson, 509 Dolan, 118 Peter Waite, 452 Anthony Sleeman and 152 James Dillon all piled in behind, before a second jacking train formed on the outside with 69 John Cope piling into 262 Barnard, with 272 Murrell and 10 Forrester crashing in behind. 322 Brown stuffed 917 Millen into the pile up, as the first jacking train grew further with 237 Milhouse going in, before 762 David Wilson, 920 Sparrow, 528 Fogg and 124 Ian Sharratt all piled in, leaving 237 Milhouse with a severely snapped Trummy 1300. The race was halted, with just 11 cars left for the restart, 352 Mynott being spun by 369 Chapman as 262 Barnard took the title and his second win of the afternoon.

The Final saw another large field of 45 cars assemble, with a number of early spins before a small pile up formed off turn 2, where 118 Waite was spun by 315 Trevor Ashworth before being T-boned and rolled by 384 John Golden for a stoppage. Another small pile up formed on the restart on turn 4, with 179 Nightingale spun, 509 Dolan, 687 Alex Humphreys and 368 Mark Annets piling in to form another jacking train. 58 Girling got tipped onto two wheels as he bounced off the infield banking, before 731 Dyer spun 528 Fogg on turn 1 to roll the latter over onto his side to bring out the red flags once again. 4 Easthope and 352 Mynott crashed out on turn 2 when the race got going again, before 731 Dyer hooked out 562 Darren Brophy to tip him up into turn 3. 73 Sims and 562 Brophy then spun together on turn 4, before 384 Golden jacked 352 Mynott, stuffing him into the spun 562 Brophy, Golden going on to take the flag.

The Dash for Cash started with a turn 2 pile up, with 648 Guyler collecting 107 Richard Horwell. 315 Ashworth spun 262 Barnard, now out in Fogg’s Minx with the steward’s permission, rolling him over to bring about a stoppage. 666 Lucas led the restart, as second placed 118 Waite was taken out. 511 Innes and 311 Darren White met head-on on the centre, with 205 Ganter also crashing in as the DD started early. 118 Waite piled into 124 Sharratt on the infield before attacking 315 Ashworth, as 666 Lucas took the win. The DD then officially started with 322 Brown jacking 511 Innes on turn 1, as 272 Murrell spun 279 Swallow. 262 Barnard jacked 810 Alex McBain, as 666 Lucas weighed into 152 Dillon on turn 1. 311 White and 223 Harrison met in a head-on on turn 2, before Harrison did likewise with 511 Innes on the infield off turn 2. 279 Swallow collected 223 Harrison, as 511 Innes took more damage from 810 McBain. 272 Murrell ran into 279 Swallow, as a pile up developed off turn 2, with 205 Ganter getting totalled by 666 Lucas as he nearly rolled, with 124 Sharratt and 262 Barnard attacking 666 Lucas. Barnard went on to T-bone 814 Millen, as 666 Lucas was fenced by 152 Dillon, with 272 Murrell and 810 McBain crashing into them on the home straight. Dillon then took a jacking from 262 Barnard, the latter then getting jacked sky high by 124 Sharratt. This left just 124 Sharratt and 810 McBain in the running, before the ailing 205 Ganter also got going again only to receive a head-on from Sharratt. 666 Lucas and 273 Andrew Webster then fired back up, with Webster spinning Lucas, both of them going out. 810 McBain and 124 Sharratt then chased each other around the infield before McBain stuffed Sharratt up the infield banking, Sharratt getting stuck, leaving McBain to take the win.

Championship (17 cars): 601, 185, 104, 213, 236, 179, nof.

A great turnout of Overs, one of the best of recent years, with a large showing of 11 Barton Boys, while both 501 Steve Kaye and 152 James Dillon were also competing in the Unders class. Scot 880 Neil Naismith was also present, not having raced at Hednesford for around 7 years, while the meeting also marked the retirement of 236 Andy Robinson. Top cars present were 88 Mark Burns’ VP4R, 185 Lenny Smith large Caddy Coupe de Ville, which won the rarest award, and 501 Kaye’s unusual DS420 Laundette, while the smartest car award went to 194 Des Marsh’s DS420 hearse.

Heat 1 had a lively start with 184 Gary Burns spinning 517 Scott Weldon, and 185 Smith hitting 241 Liam Cracknell. 196 Ben Harrison spun on the back straight, where 152 James Dillon dished out a hefty T-bone to splinter Harrison’s hearse. Dillon continued on, but immediately took a blitz from 194 Marsh before he got to turn 3. 179 Shaun Rushton steamed 517 Weldon into 303 Jason Oliver, the trio going into the turn 3 fence, where Oliver was further wrecked by 501 Kaye and then by 601 Lee Usher. 216 Nigel Baker had a big spin on the back straight after trying to take out 179 Rushton, as 601 Usher stuffed 880 Naismith into turn 1, sending the Scot spinning into the fence. The spun 517 Weldon had 241 Cracknell spin into him, Cracknell then being given a head-on by 88 Mark Burns. Cracknell got going again only to spin onto the infield, where he collected a kerbstone to tip up onto two wheels. Cracknell continued on his way, managing to fence 88 Burns hard on turn 3 at the end of the race, with the chequered falling on the rapid 601 Usher.

A smaller field for the Championship race saw 194 Marsh jack 517 Weldon on the home straight, before 184 Burns cut across the infield to hit the parked up 241 Cracknell, the latter then taking a blitzing from 194 Marsh while still on the centre. 601 Usher again took up the running and went on to retain the Championship.

601 Usher managed to lose control of his MkX Jag as he lined up for the Final, resulting in him collecting the fence off turn 4 very hard. Unfortunately, we understand he broke a finger in the incident. Once the race got underway, 800 Tom Hannah soon led, as 184 Burns hooked out 303 Oliver on turn 3. 181 Jason Pole spun on turn 3, as Hannah went on to take the win. The DD started immediately, with 221 Garry Allsop attacking 213 Marc Watkins, Allsop then coming under fire from 213 Watkins and 21 Gavin Robinson on the infield, with Watkins dishing out a T-bone. 800 Hannah also ran hard into Allsop, as 104 Mick Siddalls chased 213 Watkins into turn 1, but instead decided to T-bone 196 Harrison. Harrison attacked 179 Rushton, before taking a blitz from 184 Burns, leaving just 104 Siddalls, 213 Watkins and 800 Hannah in the running. Siddalls steamed Watkins round turn 2, but went out soon after, leaving Watkins to hit Hannah on turn 1. Hannah came back to hit Watkins, but missed and collected 184 Burns. Hannah then spun on turn 1, allowing Watkins to dish out a hard blitz and take the win.

A lower than expected turnout, with 762 Phil Smith heading the first heat in a very smart car. 551 Brain Jones spun on turn 4, before 205 Paul Rookyard rode over 869 Michael Walmsley going into turn 2. Rookyard then tried the same trick with 551 Jones on turn 4 and nearly rolled. 676 Steve Bateman gave chase to 762 Smith, with 763 Andy Bateman coming through the places in third. 205 Rookyard’s steering broke sending him into the turn 2 fence, as 762 Smith stayed ahead to take the win.

886 Brian Owen set the pace in heat 2, leaving 869 Walmsley and 676 Bateman to battle over second, with 762 Smith also joining in. 658 Stu Silman then rode over 763 Bateman’s front wheel at speed going into turn 1, Silman going hard into the fence to wreck his front bumper. 869 Walmsley got the better of 676 Bateman and then overhauled 886 Owen on the last lap to take the chequered.

The Final saw a decimated field line up, with 886 Owen initially leading before being overhauled by 676 Bateman. 869 Walmsley moved into second and gave 676 Bateman some hassle, before putting in the bumper with a couple of laps to run for the lead and his second win of the afternoon.

A good turnout of cars for the John Baxter Memorial, including 52 Craig Howarth in a borrowed 191 Joshua Smith car.

The first race was the John Baxter Memorial Stars of Tomorrow for the white and yellow grades. 214 Adam Slater collected a marker tyre from the start, as a close battle for the lead developed with 235 John Weldon barging through the pack and riding on 445 Dick Gladden’s nerf rail down the back straight before taking the lead. 307 Tim Warwick rode over 351 John Frost into turn 3 to stall on turn 4, as 441 John Lawn challenged 235 Weldon for the lead, but Weldon leant him towards the marker tyres on turn 4, and they both lost time allowing 244 Mick Rogers to take over. Rogers went on to take the win, while 192 Luke Dennis bumpered 235 Weldon hard into the last bend and they both collected the fence.

Heat 1 was headed by 496 Neil Holcroft, as 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr barged his way through the pack. 380 Steven Cayzer took over the lead, as Wainman moved into second to give chase. 259 Paul Hines and 335 Mark Woodhull hooked up against the back straight fence, as 515 Wainman eased past 380 Cayzer for the lead with three laps to run, going on for the chequered.

Heat 2 started with 307 Warwick spinning 192 Dennis on turn 4, as 441 Lawn quickly took up the lead. However, the race was cautioned with 52 Howarth stalled on turn 4. The restart saw 1 Andy Smith clip the turn 4 marker tyres, before 338 Chris Brocksopp was T-boned into turn 1, 1 Smith hitting the marker tyres to cause another stoppage. The restart was headed by 441 Lawn, as 84 Tom Harris nerfed out 4 Dan Johnson, only to go wide himself and lose places, with 4 Johnson going back ahead. 307 Warwick smacked the turn 3 fence, as 4 Johnson fenced 446 Joe Booth for second as 441 Lawn took the win.

307 Warwick and 137 Robert Jacklin tangled into turn 3 early in the consolation, with Warwick ending in the fence, as 73 Rob Cowley took up the running. 280 Colin Nairn broadsided into the stranded Warwick, as 335 Mark Woodhull spun on turn 4. 307 Warwick was then collected by 137 Jacklin, and then 321 Ed Neachell with the race being cautioned. 73 Cowley led the restart away, as 137 Jacklin and 172 Steve Randell tangled, taking 1 Smith into the fence with them. 446 Booth, 2 Paul Harrison, 212 Danny Wainman and 259 Hines had a close battle over second, as 73 Cowley stayed ahead to take the flag.

The John Baxter Memorial Final started with 1 Smith riding over 16 Matt Newson round turn 4, before a big turn 3 shunt amongst the low graders forced 338 Brocksopp into the fence, with 214 Slater joining him on the next lap. 441 Lawn came through for the lead as the race was cautioned to check on Slater. 84 Harris, 55 Craig Finnikin and 515 Wainman had a close battle on the restart, as 462 Scott Davids spun 244 Rogers, only to be fenced by 4 Johnson on turn 1. 515 Wainman went wide on turn 3, with 212 Wainman running into him, as 1 Smith went through on the inside. 2 Harrison and 259 Hines overhauled 441 Lawn after Harrison had put in the bumper a couple of times, with Hines closing on Harrison in the last few laps. 1 Smith moved into third, as 2 Harrison maintained his lead over Hines for the win. 55 Finnikin gave 1 Smith a last bend hit in the battle for third.

The National saw very few non red tops line up, with 105 Chris Bonner soon leading, as 1 Smith and 515 Wainman battled. Smith got the better of Wainman, before the latter felt 4 Johnson’s front bumper. A big shunt into turn 1 saw 1 Smith half spin, allowing 515 Wainman to close on him, before 335 Woodhull clipped a turn 1 marker tyre to get launched into a big roll for a stoppage. Woodhull drove away, with 55 Finnikin and 259 Hines passing 105 Bonner on the restart. The backmarking 212 Wainman got in Finnikin’s way, but got leant into the turn 3 fence, Finnikin staying in the lead to take the win.

GN: Cancelled.

This was the first round of the BriSCA 50 series, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of F2 Stock Cars in the UK.

Heat 1 doubled up as the White and Yellow Grades Final, with the white tops getting into a tangle on turn 3 as 588 Matt Pettitt and 917 Nigel Wiles clashed. 495 John Cayzer took up the lead from 496 Anthony Dakin, as third placed 515 Lee Veall clipped a turn 1 marker tyre to spin round. He quickly recovered, as 662 Steve Wycherley came through and worked his way up the places. However, 495 Cayzer was not going to be caught and took the win.

Heat 2 saw a much larger field assemble, with 650 Gary Stirk setting the pace, as 469 Ian Chalkley spun exiting turn 4 to get hit by 433 Steve Lilley, with 392 Mark Short also spinning out. 240 Richard Sagar had a big spin on the home straight, as 401 Barry Goldin rode over another car on turn 2. On the last lap, 650 Stirk clipped a marker tyre to get collected by 450 Ben Goddard, as 38 David Polley tangled with 388 Ian Mallinson exiting turn 4, Polley riding up the fence to end on his side as Mallinson shed a wheel. The race was halted on the last lap, and with the result being taken from the previous completed lap, 650 Stirk was very lucky to take the win, having just spun out.

The track was wet and slippery for the consolation due to a rain shower, with 240 Sagar collecting the fence a couple of times. 588 Pettitt set the pace, but he was caught by 925 Paul Wilson who tracked him round. 441 Micky Branston spun on the home straight with a wrecked wheel, before 588 Pettitt and 136 Kyle Taylor tangled, with Taylor losing a wheel to bring out the yellow flags. 925 Wilson led them away, but the race was soon cautioned again after the pack got into a mess on turn 4, leaving 515 Veall stranded mid-track. 606 Andrew Palmer now had the lead for the recommencement of the race, and he went on for victory, while 702 Allen Cooper eventually overhauled 925 Wilson for second.

The Final had a false start, before being brought under yellow flags again following a tangle on turn 4 between 886 Chris Bradbury and 871 Mark Simpson, the former losing a wheel. The restart saw the yellow graders tangle on the road bend, with 495 Cayzer getting his front bumper hooked underneath the rear of 450 Goddard’s car, as 130 Daniel Ford and 606 Palmer tangled to hit the plating on turn 1. The race was halted again, with the leading 650 Stirk having to pull off while waiting for the restart. 925 Wilson inherited the lead, before the race required another stoppage after 798 Mark Sargent had spun into the home straight fence to be left broadside across the track. 871 Simpson soon overhauled 260 Anthony Winters and 925 Wilson on the restart for the lead, as 606 Palmer fenced 589 Colin Eardley. With a couple of laps to run, 871 Simpson suddenly slowed as his car started to die, allowing 260 Winters to take over the lead, and he went on to take the chequered.

Sadly, time restrictions meant the National had to be cancelled.

Final (24 cars): 240, 447, 473, 216, 07, 14, 215, 970, 668, 18.

The white tops had a sort out at the start of heat 1, with 14 Anthony Heathway being spun. 215 Ben Yould and Banger driver 818 Lewis O’Keefe (on his debut in the formula) battled for the lead, with Yould eventually getting the better of O’Keefe. 276 Ray Cutting was sent round the pit bend plating, as 214 Thomas Yould spun on turn 4. 215 Yould went on for the chequered.

Rain for heat 2 made conditions tricky, with 347 Sam Reynolds setting the pace before being passed by 215 Yould. 668 Ricky Martin collected the turn 1 marker tyres, before 666 Steve Stovin spun at the end of the home straight right in front of the leading 215 Yould. This allowed 33 Warren Porter to close on Yould, but the latter stayed ahead to claim his second win of the evening.

14 Heathway headed the Final, as 673 John Moat and 447 Richard Hampshire had a mid-order battle. 818 O’Keefe collected the turn 3 fence to shed a wheel, bringing out the yellow flags. The restart saw 240 Todd Shales come though to take up the running, as 673 Moat and 447 Hampshire continued their scrap, with 216 Dan Booth joining them in the later laps. 653 Gemma Rainer collected the turn 3 fence hard, as 142 Lee Farrell spun on turn 4 to take a hard T-bone from 33 Porter. 240 Shales kept ahead of the battle going on behind and went on for victory.
