Amongst the line-up was 710 James Baggott, editorial director of Car Dealer magazine. He was racing a near new and unregistered Hyundai i10 that had been rolled during testing before being donated to the magazine by Hyundai UK. Also racing was top 1300 Stockie driver 846 Paul Aylward. Heat 1 saw a lot of contact during the first three non-contact laps, with 710 Baggott bundled hard into the home straight fence on the second lap to end his night’s racing, although he had to spend the rest of the race broadside across the track. 529 Keith Conlon was fenced hard on turn 1, as a pile up formed in the turn 3 fence with 811 Shane Temple, 773 Alan Kenton and 766 Pete Beevis amongst those involved. 714 Luke Broughton then crashed into the pile up, with 734 Luke Muir weighing into him. 258 Wayne Turner took up the running and went on to take the flag, but was then docked two places for being involved in crashing during the first three laps, handing the win to 62 Phil Stevens. A smaller field for heat 2, with 816 Andrew Freeman and 714 Broughton tangling into turn 1 in the early laps. 718 Luke Barkham heavily fenced 258 Turner on turn 1 to wreck the latter. 718 Barkham went on to hassle 112 Pete Stevens and fence him at the opposite end of the track, Stevens getting going again. 718 Barkham then fenced 994 Trevor Pugh, as 766 Beevis attacked 112 Stevens on the pit bend, allowing 718 Barkham to home in for a shot on Stevens. However, he missed and put himself into the fence to lift his back wheels off the ground. 560 Ashley Reed and 773 Kenton put in some good hits, as 846 Aylward claimed the win. The Final started with a turn 2 pile up after 766 Beevis had fenced 429 Lee Conlon, with 899 Ian Burksfield and 846 Aylward crashing in along with 383 Richard Cooke. 62 Stevens then jacked 633 Gary Cole into turn 3, sending the latter towards the fence where he was further blitzed by 846 Aylward. 845 Dean Rook was fenced on turn 3, as 766 Beevis was black flagged, but continued on oppo to hit 777 Derek Gibbons. 34 Barry Williams fenced 766 Beevis, and went on to take the win, with anyone in his way getting spun. Stock Rods – London Championship (22 cars - Second heat reverse grid of first, points from heats determine London Championship grid) Drivers Racing:
Results: Heat 1 (22 cars): 194, 168, 152, 394, 288, 418, 247, 87, 171, 163, 28, 39, 316, 60, 213, 612, 472, nof. Heat 2 (22 cars): 447, 163, 171, 247, 288, 87, 168, 394, 39, 194, 418, 31, 101, 213, 316, nof. London Championship (19 cars): 447, 168, 418, 213, 163, 171, 394, 28, 313, 152. This was the first running of the London Championship since 2005, won back then by 143 Drew Lammas. The line-up included Scotsman 612 Leon Stewart. Heat 1 had a slippery start, with 194 Tony Barnes going inside of 418 Patrick Smith Jnr off turn 4 for the lead. Smith gave chase, as 31 Charlie Jowers veered over the kerb off turn 4 after a tangle in the pack. 447 Stuart Smyth spun into the turn 1 marker tyres to retire to the infield soon after, as 194 Barnes went on to take the flag, with 418 Smith following him over the line, only to be docked four places for contact. 31 Jowers spun off turn 2 early in the second heat, as 163 Jason Pickett made the early running ahead of 60 Daniel Rea. Rea then collected the back straight fence at speed, his car violently spinning round and appearing to explode in a massive cloud of smoke and steam as the engine was ripped off its mountings to end on the infield! The race was halted, with Rea thankfully emerging from the remains of his car virtually unscathed (although he did appear to have a slight limp). 163 Pickett headed the restart, with 447 Smyth in pursuit, and with just 3 laps to run, Smyth found a way up the inside on turn 4 to take over for the win. The points from the heats placed 168 Andy Sturt on pole position for the London Championship, with 194 Barnes alongside, while 288 Harry Palmer and 247 Gavin Croft lined up on row 2. The track was now rather slippery from light rain, but despite this, the event was the best Rod race of the night. Stuart and Barnes were neck and neck over the opening lap, before 288 Palmer surged past on the back straight, only to go very wide into turn 3. The trio came out of turn 4 three abreast, with Palmer ending in the fence on turn 1. 418 Smith then came through, along with 447 Smyth, who had made up a lot of places over the opening three laps. 168 Sturt dropped back, with the battle for the lead close for a couple more laps, before 247 Croft collected the home straight fence in the pack, causing a stoppage. 418 Smith led the restart, before he was overhauled by 447 Smyth, the latter then pulling clear. 168 Sturt battled with 418 Smith for second, before they were joined by 213 Graham Moreton and 163 Pickett for a four way scrap. 447 Smyth went on to take the title, while the battle for second raged right to the line, with 168 Stuart coming out on top. Superstox - Safari Landrover Challenge Series Round 1 (30 cars) Drivers Racing:

Heat 1 started with a turn 3 shunt and 532 Bobby Davis Jnr taking an early lead. 540 Brett Wesbroom clipped the home straight fence to wreck his front wheel, as 69 Shaun Brooker’s car went smoky and 266 Paul Burksfield collected the fence on turn 2, prompting a restart. 426 Richard Raymond soon overhauled 532 Davis for the lead on the restart, Davis coming back to put in the bumper, before 376 Stephen Jackson swept past. The race was then halted again for the stranded 490 Matthew Sole on turn 2, with 376 Jackson holding off 482 Jason Cooper off over the remaining laps. 60 Ben Marjoram slid hard into the fence on turn 1, as 532 Davis spun at the opposite end of the track. 376 Jackson took the flag, while 161 Billy Smith fenced 151 Nick Smith hard on the last bend in the battle for the minor places. The rear of the field got into a tangle on turn 3 as heat 2 got underway, with the front runners then doing likewise on turn 1. 22 Mark Kelman soon came through to lead, as 279 Phil Proctor collected the turn 1 wires. 532 Davis leant 314 Jason Barraclough into the turn 1 marker tyres, Barraclough riding on two wheels, as the spun 118 Ross Eaton took a T-bone from 482 Cooper on turn 2. 279 Proctor collected the marker tyres on turn 2 following a tangle to shed his front wheel, this went bouncing down the back straight to come to rest of the infield to allow the race to continue. 22 Kelman stayed ahead to take the chequered, while 314 Barraclough sought revenge at the end of the race by following in 532 Davis on turn 1. 490 Sole led the opening laps of the Final, 7 Glenn Salmon then going past to take over. 161 Smith bumpered 116 John Smith fencewards, with 511 Keith Miller also going in, as a tangle at the end of the home straight saw 376 Jackson spin amongst others, but he quickly recovered. 7 Salmon had a decent lead, but was then delayed by backmarkers, allowing those giving chase to close, with 376 Jackson managing to get ahead. However, Salmon retook the lead on turn 2 by diving up Jackson’s inside, but Jackson then repassed Salmon on the next bend and opened up a small gap. 490 Sole collected the fence to break a wheel, as 376 Jackson went on for his second victory of the evening. 2.0 Stock Cars - 2009 London Championship & Wealden Services Series Round 1 (17 cars) Drivers Racing:

Heat 1 started with a turn 2 shunt, leaving 42 Blomfield, 158 Shane Davies, 7 Colin Farley and 229 Robert George in the wires, from which they recovered to continue. 31 Iain Amos was fenced on turn 1, as 618 Freddie Kinsella passed 910 Adam Pendergast for the lead. The backmarking 229 George then hooked out Kinsella on the home straight, with 41 Joe Parker taking over at the front as he shunted 229 George wide on turn 1. 305 Billy Wood then overhauled Parker and went on to take the flag. Heat 2 kicked off with a few spins, before 41 Parker and 42 Blomfield clashed heavily on the home straight, with Parker collecting the fence and Blomfield getting airborne as he ran into Parker. 229 George was leant into the pit gate by 698 Danny Colliver, George gaining revenge by forcing Colliver into the turn 1 marker tyres. George then pulled towards the infield on the back straight, but 698 Colliver followed him and rammed him to take George across the grass and spin him round. Colliver gained a black flag for his actions, as 618 Kinsella took the chequered. The London Championship saw the red graders get into a tangle at the start to go fencebound on the pit bend. 910 Pendergast set the early pace, as 298 Ian Elms collected the back straight fence. 618 Kinsella overhauled Pendergast, before being caught by 167 Jimmy Morris, who spun Kinsella out. 167 Morris then maintained his lead to the line for the title, while a last bend sort out for the minor places saw a shunt between 29 George Morphey, 305 Wood and 7 Farley, with Kinsella trying to gain a place by hitting Wood off turn 4, only to spin himself round. A pile up on the back straight involved much of the field, with M162 Cocks getting caught up, as P349 Lewis Price steamed SP247 Lee Clarke into the fenced T238 Graham Garrod on the home straight. SK807 Murfin found a way through the carnage to take the win, meeting M363 Trim head-on after crossing the line, with just 4 cars going the distance. Despite scoring no points in the Final, Trackstar’s lead was so great after the heats that they still took the overall points, with Mendips’ second and fourth places in the Final leap-frogging them into second overall, Murfin’s win securing Skegness third place overall.
The DD started with 349 Price going on opposite to collect the traffic on the back straight, causing a pile up. A jacking train formed on the back straight, but it was too dark to see who was involved, as 807 Murfin fenced 11 Race on turn 4. Murfin then went on opposite to further hit Race, and collected 384 Beckerton head-on. 55 Ogborn and 45 Anthony Crowshaw both collected Beckerton, as 61 Darryl Theedom T-boned 239 Carter. A good turnout of cars, including three Scots and four from the Westcountry.
Sadly heat 1 was ruined by a pre-meeting rain shower, with the drivers struggling for grip all the way round the track. 19 Karl Stubbles stayed in the lead to the lap boards, before his car blew up in a cloud of steam. 219 Luke Grief took over, as Stubbles got going again to push Grief down the back straight, where they came to a halt. The flag eventually dropped on 570 Simon Venni, but a check of the lapsheets showed 127 Steve McMillan to have been way out in the lead, and he was declared the victor.
A much better track for heat 2 saw 738 Gary Munns set the pace, as 19 Stubbles and 638 Martin Bulldeath spun on turn 4 to cause a pile up. 738 Munns was passed by 570 Venni, as 512 Darren Barnett put in a big hit into turn 3, sending 490 Ian Jarman into 328 Ian Govier, and into the fence. 570 Venni was then forced to the fence by 912 Andi Newman, allowing 127 McMillan to take over. 512 Barnett fenced 71 Gordon Alexander on turn 2, Alexander riding up the armco, as 127 McMillan went on to take his second win of the afternoon.

However, 360 Carl Waterfield barged 641 Skoyles out wide on the last bend, allowing 420 Street to sneak through and steal the win.
The ORC Championship lined up with maximum points scorer 127 McMillan on the front row, with 570 Venni alongside, while row 2 consisted of 149 Jamie Sampson and 420 Street. A dramatic start saw the pack clash coming out of turn 4, forcing 360 Waterfield into and up the fence and he completed a full roll for a stoppage. The restart saw 328 Govier get spun on turn 3 to take a hammering from the traffic, before getting going again. However, a home straight melee then saw 106 Jamie Stafford manage to get his front wheel caught in 328 Govier’s tailgate and he hitched a ride down the home straight. 122 Lee Petters spun on turn 4 to get T-boned down the home straight, as 2 Paul Tuppen tried to squeeze up the inside only to collect and get airborne over the infield blocks in a shower of sparks. 738 Munns rode the home straight fence, before 311 Steve Neman was forced into the turn 1 concrete blocks to get hit by the traffic. 570 Venni led throughout and stayed clear of trouble to take the title in an action packed race.
