Sony U-matics. - Enter The Computers! - My first was an MSX Yamaha CX-128 that evolved

into a Sony A/V MSX with overlay and gen-lock capabilities. A very pioneering adventure having

written my "Operating System" in Basic (on floppy disks !) ... one of the U-matics was especially

modified by Sony so that it could be remote-controlled from the also custom modified RS-232

cartridge ... I was lucky enough to be working for Ilvio Gallo's photographic studio where there

was a classic, but in my opinion still unsurpassed three machine a/b-roll Beta editing suite - I am

convinced that accurate use of speed and slow motion together with good cross dissolves or sharp

on-the beat cuts can deliver more audio/visual emotions than hundreds of fancy effects used just for

the sake of using them, or 'patching up' something that went wrong while shooting. - So, with this

system I produced about fourty TV spots for DiscoMagic (a Dance Record Company), and again

achieved a few N°1's through careful S-VHS (!) shooting, some blue-screen, frame by frame editing,

incredible use of MSX 2D (!) animated graphics, and a few other tricks !!! - Now enter Satellite TV -
