Rovers, suffering from a horrendous spate of injuries, overcame Chorley with ease to register the highest win at the Lionheart Stadium this season. This win came on the back of two recent league defeats against Leigh at home and Whitehaven away in midweek. Again the team which played Whitehaven had to call upon some of Rovers youngsters including Wayne Sutcliffe, Richard Thaler, Matt Turner and Steve Jones for the long trip due to many injuries to the regular first team squad.

It was good to see Rovers scrum-half and captain, Jamie Rooney returning to the fray after recovering from a broken jaw which was sustained at York. Michael Rhodes was still out with injury and was replaced at fullback by Matt Bramald. With Chris Spurr sidelined Richard Thaler started in the centre to his Alliance colleague Matt Turner. Gary Lord started again replacing Micky Clarkson who appears to have a long term knee injury. Steve Dooler is still sidelined with a damaged wrist and so is Gavin Swinson with a dislocated elbow. Steve Jones therefore retained his place on the bench.

Rovers started the game playing down the slope. With so many changes it was not suprising to see a lack of cohesion in the opening 10 minutes. Then with Captain Jamie Rooney leading from the front Rovers produced some good football to produce a 12-try demolition of Chorley. With Jamie in the thick of it tries came thick and fast from Paul Darley after 10 minutes, Richard Thaler after 14, Richard Chapman on16 minutes and then Richard Thaler again showing good finishing on 20 minutes, Nic Simpson on 24 minutes and then a typical 'speedy' effort from 50 metres from Jamie Stokes just before the interval. Jamie Stokes try was the highlight of the first half. With 4 goals from Jamie Rooney Rovers had 32 points on the board. The only reply from Chorley was a try from Stuart Fisher on 26 minutes which he also converted. Rovers 32 Chorley 6.

Rovers continued where they had left off in the second half. Tries came from Jamie Rooney on 50 minutes Gavin Morgan on 60 minutes as well as Jamie Stokes on 64 minutes. Then Neil Lowe got onto the scoresheet after 73 minutes and finally Richard Gibson scored Rovers last try of the afternoon on 78 minutes. A further 4 goals by Jamie Rooney - 20 points in all- gave the scoreline of Rovers 64 Chorley 6.

It was really good to see Rovers youngsters coming to the fore with Richard Thaler showing some good finishing.

Rovers man of the match was Paul Darley but was pushed closely by Neil Lowe and Jamie Rooney.
