The Old Parish Records are records of baptisms and marriages performed by the established church in Scotland. Today this is the Church of Scotland. These records are kept at New Register House in Edinburgh.  A searchable index is available online at the Scots Origins website.

Here are a few records from the parish of Drumoak, Aberdeenshire.

"Alexander Chillace and Margaret Mackie both in this parish being contracted and orderly proclaimed were married May 9th 1771".

"Anno 1772 September 24th. Alexander Chillace in Upper Parks had a son baptized called Robert".

"Anno 1776 April 14th. William Chillace in Quhobs had a daughter baptized called Margaret".

"Anno 1777 Nov 15th. Alexander Chillas in Quhobs had a son baptised called Alexander".

"Alexander Chillace in Quhobs had by his wife Margaret Mackay a son born on the 3rd day of January 1782 who was baptized and named Thomas".

Alexander Chillas was born 1747 Alford, son of Robert Chillas.  William was his younger brother born 1756 and lived with his brother in 1776 at  Quhobs.

There are no recorded marriages for William in Drumoak though the Drumoak records for this period are intact. He may of course have married a woman from another parish where the records have not all survived. This may be the William that went on to marry Jean Milne in 1790 and lived at Finzean in the parish of Birse.

Alexander b.1777 can be found in the 1841 census of Drumoak at Candyglerach with his wife Sophia Stewart and family.

Margaret Mackie's father farmed at Upper Parks where Robert was born. This is the baptismal record for Margaret's sister Anna.

"Anno 1753 August 20th. Robert Mackie in Upper Parks had a daughter baptised called Anna".

Margaret Mackie was the daughter of Robert Mackie and Isobel Malcolm m. 1736 Drumoak. Anna is probably the Ann Mackay who married George Imray in 1782 in Drumoak.
