A large proportion of Christians in the North East of Scotland were Episcopalians.  The records of the Episcopal church in Scotland are not included in the Old Parish Records.

St Paul's, Aberdeen

Robert Chillas b. 1736 Alford, a tallow merchant in Aberdeen, appears to have joined the Episcopal Church on his return to Aberdeen. His earlier children were baptised in the established church and appear in the Old Parish Records.

This is an entry from the records of St Paul's Episcopal Chapel for the baptism of Robert's son George.

July 14th 1790--Chillas, Robert, merchant, and Christian Strachan, his spouse: son George, born June 23rd and baptized in Chapel (Mr. John Robertson).


Folla Rule, Fyvie

Margaret Hardie was the wife of James Chillas b. 1823 to Alexander Chillas and Sophia Stewart. Margaret's family attended Folla Rule and the records of birth marriage and death appear for her entire family. Here are two that are connected to the Chillas family.

Margaret, daughter of John Hardie, Saphock baptised 1st August 1822.

John Moir Hardie, son of John Hardie, Saphock, baptised 5th September 1824.

Margaret married James Chillas on 15th February 1845 in the parish of Banchory Devenick. The Banns were read on 2nd February 1845 in the parish of Daviot where Margaret lived.

John Moir Hardie, a shoemaker, married Jane Duncan 9th November 1871 in Daviot. Jane was the daughter of David Duncan and Margaret Chillas.
