Statistics from Scots Origins

A search of the Scots Origins website http://beta2.scotsorigins.com , shows the number of Scottish records of births and marriages held on the Old Parish Records Index from 1553 to 1854, the number of births marriages and deaths on the Civil Register from 1855 to 1900 and the number of entries on the 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses.

This gives an interesting picture of both the variations in spelling and the population of families with the surname over this period. All the records I have checked using the spellings below have proved to be from the same family line.
