Midmar

In loving memory of MARGARET SMITH CHILLAS beloved wife of ALEXANDER MELVIN d. 23 December 1919 aged 33; her husband ALEXANDER MELVIN d. 10 August 1940 aged 55.

This is Margaret Chillas b. 1886 to John Chillas and Isabella Morgan and her husband Alexander Melvin b. 1884 to James Melvin and Mary Malcolm.

St Peter's, Aberdeen

In loving memory of Margaret KEMP beloved wife of John CHILLAS d. 21/3/1898 aged 35 years; Alexander CHILLAS died in action in France 23 July 1916 aged 18; John CHILLAS d. 24 July 1919 aged 58; also their daughter Mary d. 16/6/1941 aged 45.

This is John Hardie Chillas b. 1860 to James Chillas and Margaret Hardie, his wife Margaret Kemp b. 1863 to Peter Kemp and Margaret Grant. (See Chillas Family Tree 2 for more information).

Paisley Abbey Churchyard

This is the burying place of Robert CHILLAS, plumber, and Alison ANDERSON, his spouse.

There are no dates given on the stone but this is Robert Chillas b. 1772 Greenock, son of Robert Chillas and Christian Strachan and his wife whom he married in 1792.

A Robert Chillas is listed in the Paisley Directory up until 1827, address given as 17 Thread Street, Paisley.

Kemnay

Erected by John CHILLAS in loving memory of his wife Isabella MORGAN d. Lochschangie, Kemnay 19 June 1905 aged 62; said John CHILLAS d. there 26 July 1915 aged 68.

This is John Chillas b. 1847 Old Meldrum to John Chillas and Jane Forbes and his wife Isabella Morgan b. 1843 Kemnay to Jane Morgan.


There are no memorial inscriptions, or none legible, for the following family but they appear in burial records for the parish of Fintray:

Margaret Chillas buried 21 June 1810, unmarried,  Residence: Woodhead
Elspet Chillas buried 5 December 1845, spouse of Chillas, Residence: Cowstones

This would appear to be Alexander Chillas b. 1766 to Robert Chillas and Christian Strachan, who married Elspet Smith 1806 Drumoak, proclamation of Marriage 1806 Banchory Ternan. I can find no recorded baptism for a daughter Margaret.
