Cometh the hour, cometh the man!      Fievel is the Champion!

On 21st October, 2004 we had 973 isms in the database and wondered if we could get to 1000 by the end of the year. We asked for your help and by the following day, Fievel had come up trumps (or more correctly, colleagues of Fievel had come up trumps).

Fievel (not his real name, obviously) is already an ISMS Member who had 22 isms to his credit; he now has 60 isms in the database, his colleagues having submitted an email containing a massive 38 isms recorded during the year. And, because these isms arrived in a batch, we've used what one of our members calls 'poet's licence' to select from the submissions and make this the 1000th ism:

ism #1000:

"Local government, its all loops within loops!"

If you think that one of Fievel's latest batch of isms is better (#974-#1006), then let us know and we may amend our decision. Fievel has been added to our list of Fellows and, no doubt, one of his isms will be selected for November's Ism of the Month Hall of Fame.

The Chairman & Chief Executive would like to record his thanks to all those authors and researchers who have, over the past 30 years, provided the ISMS with the numerous quotes and mis-quotes that have built the database and bring the ISMS back to the forefront of isms research ........ Back to Quo Vadis.
