Corporate membership


The requirements for the three Corporate grades of membership are as follows, please note that CHaP is an Honorary award:

Professor (PISMS)
At least 50 years old AND Fellow (FISMS) for at least 15 years.
Personally responsible for contributing a minimum of 50 isms to the Institution’s database OR, at the discretion of the Institution, for having a major influence on the development of the Institution and its Tree of Knowledge.

CHaP (CHaP)
At the discretion of the Institution, certain Fellows may be designated as CHaPs (Close to honorary accession to Professor). A CHaP will usually be a Fellow who has already achieved the first two conditions for Professorship and is within five or ten isms of achieving the third condition. The designatory letters CHaP should be used in addition to FISMS thus, FISMS CHaP.

Fellow (FISMS)
Member (MISMS) for at least 10 years. Personally responsible for contributing a minimum of 25 isms to the Institution’s database OR, at the discretion of the Institution, for having a major influence on the development of the Institution and its Tree of Knowledge.

Member (MISMS)
At least 18 years of age. Holding the Institution’s Diploma in Ismology, or an equivalent acceptable to the Institution AND personally responsible for contributing a minimum of 10 isms to the Institution’s database OR personally responsible for contributing a minimum of 10 isms to the Institution’s database AND satisfying the Institution of his or her worthiness, either by interview, e-mail or references from current or past corporate members.
