The ISMS Award Scheme - Terms of application

We ask you to agree to:

  • Read our Award Scheme's basic aims, criteria and rating system and perhaps, if you are new to web site development, our tips for winning awards

  • Ask questions or check any uncertainties you may have regarding our Award Scheme with us before you apply. email the ISMS

  • Ensure that you, or if you are nominating someone else's site the webmaster or webmistress of the site you are applying for, is at least 18 years of age. If we later discover that you are under the age of 18, your site will be immediately removed from our winners list

  • Apply, using the ISMS application form, or if the form fails via email, but only if your nominated site meets the ISMS Award scheme criteria

  • Display any ISMS Award you receive from us on your site's award page without changing or resizing the award graphic in any way without our written permission. The graphic will already be optimized and of a small size (less than 200 x 150 pixels and 7-15kb).

  • Notify the ISMS (email the ISMS) if your site's URL changes.  If we find that your URL has changed or become disconnected without this notification then we reserve the right to remove from our web pages any links to your site

  • At the very least, maintain the high standards that your site must have achieved if it has been awarded granted an ISMS Award

  • Maintain a family friendly atmosphere on your site. The ISMS has already achieved Family Friendly accreditation and so our Award Scheme stresses the importance of running a family friendly web site. If, at any time, we visit your site and discover non-family friendly content or links, we reserve the right to remove from our pages any links to your site and withdraw our Award graphic without prior notification. This is not an idle threat, we have already used this sanction on one previous Gold Award Winner.

 
In return we agree to:

  • Check your application form and web site to ensure that it meets our Award criteria

  • Acknowledge receipt of your application, but only if you meet our Award criteria

  • Visit your site on at least three separate occasions, reviewing different aspects of it on each occasion

  • Determine your site's score based on our rating system

  • Notify you if you are successful in obtaining an Award and provide you with the graphic and code to allow you to display our Award on your site

  • Undertake the above process with four weeks of acknowledging receipt of your accepted application

If, during our evaluation of your site, we discover something that does meet our Award criteria - whatever it may be - then our evaluation will cease. If this happens, we will not contact you to tell you that your application has been unsuccessful unless we have some proposals or suggestions that, if acted upon within one week, would allow your application to be reconsidered. In this regard, the decision of the ISMS Chairman & Chief Executive's is final.

If, following our evaluation, your site qualifies for an ISMS Award then we will contact you by email and provide you with Award graphic and code to allow you to display our Award on your site. The Award will be personalised with the name of your site and be given a unique ISMS identification number. You are not required to use the embedded link in your Award, which would take visitors back to the ISMS web site, but if you choose to activate the link then we would acknowledge that with our thanks.

Membership of the ISMS is not required either to apply for, or be granted, an Award.

We occasionally provide a guestbook on our site. You are not required to sign our guestbook but if you choose to do so then please be aware that signing it will not increase or guarantee your chances of winning an award.
