My great great grandmother, Helen Bray, was born c. 1838/9 in St. Martins parish, Hereford, the daughter of Thomas Bray and Elizabeth (née Mattey). She married Thomas Froggatt in 1866 at St. Michael's Church, Gloucester. They presumably married in Gloucester despite both living near Hereford at the time because Helen was the sister of Thomas's first wife (either Susan or Emily Bray) and it was then not lawful to marry one's deceased spouse's sibling.
Thomas Bray married Elizabeth Mattey in 1823 at Hampton Bishop, Herefordshire. I have not yet traced Thomas prior to that date.
