de FERRERS - OTHER RESEARCHERS

Brief details follow of other researchers of the de Ferrers name with whom I have been in contact. Please contact them directly if you feel you may have a common interest.

John de Coste of Penna, USA. Jtdeco@aol.com

I have been researching for a couple of years in an attempt to know more about the marriage of Richard Coste to Hawise DeFerrers, daughter of Robert de Ferrers, 1st Earl of Derby, son of Henry. My interest is in the Coste side of things. The name Coste is found in two areas of France, Normandy and Provence. A number of us have been researching the connection between the two groups and the record of Richard Coste popped up. Speculation is that the Normandy Costes may have come to England with William the Conqueror (but it is theory only, without fact). Anyway the link to the DeFerrers seems like the best way to find someone who might be researching the same data.

Hayley Malone, of Fort Payne, Alabama, USA. hayleymalone@hotmail.com

Hayley is interested in establishing whether the Ferror family which can be traced back to the late 15th century in Halifax, Yorkshire, is descended from the de Ferrers family. A descendant, William Farrar, emigrated to America in 1618 and after him is name Farrar's Island, Henrico Co., Virginia. Full details of Hayley's descent from the Ferror family of Halifax.
