I have two Harris connections in my ancestry. First and foremost, Harris was my paternal grandmother's maiden name, the descent being as follows:
Thomas Harris, probably born 1778/9 at Bettws-y-Crwyn, Salop. He married Ann, maiden name and location unknown, probably c. 1812. They had seven children: Thomas, Richard, John, James, Elizabeth, Edward and Mary. They lived at Beguildy, Radnorshire, at least from 1813. Thomas probably died in 1857.
Edward Harris. Baptised at Beguildy, January 18th, 1824. He married Elizabeth Davies, probably c. 1860, and they had five children: Margaret, Edward, Mary, Richard and Thomas Headley. He farmed at Hendre, Beguildy, previously farmed by his father. Elizabeth died between November 1868 and March 1871. Edward died between 1895 and 1910.
Richard Harris. Born 1867/8 at Beguildy. He married Margaret Annie Morris, probably c. 1893/4. They had five children: Elizabeth Annie Constance, Mary, Gladys, Headley and Marjorie.
My paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Annie Constance Harris (known as Connie). She was born on November 25th, 1894, at Aymestrey, Herefordshire. She married Herbert Thomas Robinson c. 1920, and they lived at Tenbury Wells, Worcs. Connie died in June 1954.
Secondly, I have a probable 6xgreat grandmother in Mary Harris who married Richard Whittall at Clun, Shropshire, in 1718. They had eight children: Richard (1718; married Mary Edwards at Bromfield in 1743, and had three children), Erasmus (1720), Mary (1722), Thomas (1724), Elizabeth (1727), Margaret (1730), Margaret (1733) and Elinor (1735), all baptised at Clun.
