I have two interests in the Palmer family.
The first stems from my probable 8xgreat grandmother, Joan(e) Palmer, who married William Collins in Ludlow, Shropshire, in 1666, and had four children: Richard (1667), Mary (1669), Anne (1674) and Samuel (1679). Mary was baptised in Wheathill, Shropshire, and the other three in the neighbouring parish of Stoke St. Milborough.
Joane was probably the daughter of George and Anne Palmer, baptised in 1638 at Much Wenlock, Shropshire. George Palmer and Anne Mason were married at Much Wenlock in 1632, and also had a son, Humfrey, baptised at Much Wenlock in 1632.
George Palmer himself was the son of Humffrey Palmer (mother's name unknown), baptised at Much Wenlock in 1609. The IGI records Humffrey as the son of St_St Palmer, baptised at Chetton in 1582. The St_St is presumably an attempt to read an indecipherable name on a very old register; I have not examined the register myself.
My second interest is in Richard Palmer who may have been my 6xgreat grandfather, having fathered an illegitimate child, Mary (baptised Bitterley, Shropshire, 1734), the mother being Mary Wyer. However I do not know any more about Richard Palmer.
Please contact me by e-mail if you think you have any interests in common with mine.
