My 14xgreat grandmother, Margaret Swynfen married Sir William Vernon c. 1440, and had four sons and four daughters. She was the daughter and heiress of Sir William Swynfen, Kt., by Jocosa, the youngest daughter of William Durvassal alias Spernore. She was also heiress of Robert Pype. Sir William Swynfen was of Pype Ridware, Staffordshire, and had inherited the Pype Estate from his mother. She was sometimes known as Margaret de Pype and referred to as the daughter of Robert Pype; indeed her tomb inscription at Tong Church refers to her as such, but this is wrong. She died in the 1460s.
