This collection is being assembled by Rick Lambert.

It contains the small cushion and mat forming species that are found mainly in the Mediterranean regions and extending to France, Spain, Britain, as well as to Kashmir, Alaska, Russia, and South Africa.

Dianthus appears to be absent in the wild from South America, New Zealand and Australia.

The existing plants are being verified, propagated and planted into collection beds.

The aim of the collection is to clarify the names of plants, conserve and promote the genus, and show its beauty and fascination.
I plan to have the collection open for visitors on two occasions during 2005.

The web site contains:-
a list of the plants included, photographs
and notes to aid identification and cultivation.

Thank you to those of you who have allowed me to visit your gardens in my search for dianthus species, allowed me to photograph and generously given me cuttings and plants. I hope there is some reward in seeing them here.

Useful comments by email on the history or on the names will be welcome.
