Sean was born in the Inismore city of Tara in 1647. He was raised in the port by his mother while his father served in O’Bannon’s war against Avalon. Tales from soldiers and other visitors to the port inspired a desire for adventure. As a boy, Sean worked on the docks, unloading cargo and helping make repairs to Vendel merchant ships. At the beginning of 1668 he joined the crew of a small coastal-trader operating between Inismore, the Highland Marches and Avalon. With some money in his pocket, Sean hoped to make his way to mainland Theah to make his fame and fortune.
For all of her early life Lizbeth dreamed of serving as a Musketeer, protecting her country and royal family from danger and peril. She had travelled to Charouse with a letter from her hometown militia captain when the Revolution began. With the fall of the monarchy and the instability of the new government, Lizbeth was unsure of the Musketeers’ future. Instead she decided to serve alone. For several months she travelled the ports and borders of Montaigne listening for rumours of fleeing nobles and striking along highways to slow blood-thirsty pursuit and aid their escape into exile.
It was on this mission that Lizbeth and Sean would first cross paths. The highwaywoman rescued the young pirate from a hangman's noose in Muguet, believing him to be an Avalon noble. The two joined forces to rescue the real noble, Captain John Reynolds, and to stop the plans of Michel LePrev, a cunning undercover agent of the National Parlement. Although they succeeded in assisting exiles to safety in Eisen, Lizbeth was declared a traitor to her country and sentenced to death should she ever return. With her life in Montaigne over, Lizbeth returned to Avalon with Sean - with whom she was developing a very close relationship.
As a reward for his service, Sean was given command of Captain Reynold's small lugger 'The Princess Bride'. His exploits also brought him to the attention of Derwyddon and the Sidhe. Following a map provided by the druid, Sean and Lizbeth led their crew on a raid of a treasure horde belonging to the dreaded pirate Reis - believing Reis to have been killed by 'Bloody' Bonnie McGee with the aid of the Sidhe. Unfortunately Reis was still very much alive and the crew of the 'Princess Bride' found themselves on the run from Reis and his 'Crimson Roger'. The encounters culminated dramatically when Lizbeth was abducted to Bryn Bresail by a Sidhe Lord known as the Cluracan.
Sean could think of only one person who could help him survive Reis' vengeance. He travelled to Bryn Bresail to rescue Lizbeth and, while he was there, a bargain was made with the Queen of the Sky - if he could destroy two Syrneth artefacts then Bonnie McGee would be released to help him deal with Reis. The task was not easy, but with Lizbeth's help he succeeded. In a climactic confrontation on the Seventh Sea, Sean and Lizbeth faced Reis and survived his attack. But in the course of their quest they had made new enemies. Maab, the Sidhe Queen of the Sea, warned Sean that he would pay the price of her wrath if he ever sailed the seas of Theah again. The adventurers retired to a quieter life on the island of Marcina - at least for a while.
