Odds and Ends

This site is just a collection of various 'Odds and Ends' which may be of interest to somebody. There is no particular theme, just a variety of articles which reflect my interests and experiences over the years. The site will probably be under continual construction and improvement of a sort!

I am retired (early) and before retiring I worked in the chemical and oil industries. The last fourteen years before retiring, I worked offshore as a production supervisor in the central sector of the North Sea on a production platform, previously I worked in a chemical plant in Grangemouth in Central Scotland.

My hobbies are, in alphabetical order, angling (mostly fly fishing), astronomy (I'm treasurer and membership secretary of an astronomy society), collecting (almost anything), computing, fly tying, gardening, geology, photography (conventional and digital) and studying, mainly science subjects.

For the past six years I have occupied myself mentally by doing Open University courses. I have only been picking courses which appealed to me. Have a look at them here.
