Welsh Castle Relay race was held on 11-12 June 2011. The race runs through Wales with a total mileage of 210 over 2 days with 58 clubs competing in 20
stages. The race starts at Caernarfon castle on Saturday morning with an overnight stop at Newtown, and finishing on Sunday afternoon at Cardiff castle. Sarn Helen club finished in an excellent time of 23 hours 59 minutes and 32 seconds, and 17th overall out of the 58 clubs. Teifion Davies ran the first stage out of Caernarfon castle to Penygores in 1 hour 02 minutes 14 seconds in 13th position. Stage 2 to Criccieth castle 28th Mark Dunscombe 1 hour 13 minutes 40 seconds, Maentwrog was a mountain stage and Carwyn Thomas finished in 15th position in 1 hour 18 minutes 37 seconds, Harlech Castle 26th Gareth Jones 1 hour 10 minutes 12 seconds. stage 5 to Barmouth 42nd Caryl Davies 1 hour 14 minutes 44 seconds, to Dolgelau 32nd Dawn Kenwright 1 hour 18 minutes 42 seconds. From Dolgellau to Dinas Mawddwy was another mountain stage and Steve Holmes finished in 28th position in 1 hour 06 minutes 48 seconds, Foel 18th Andrew Abbott 1 hour 10 minutes 20 seconds, Llanfair Caereinion 36th David Thomas 1 hour 04 minutes 57 seconds, the 10th and last sage for Saturday into Newtown was in 29th position Eric Rees 1 hour 31 minutes 15 minutes a distance of half marathon and a mountain stage.
Glyn Price began the 7a.m. half marathon mountain stage from Newtown to Llanbadarn Fynydd in 1 hour 15 minutes 42 seconds and finished in 10th position, Llanbadarn fynydd 16th Huw Price 1 hour 10 minutes 49 seconds, stage 13 to Builth Wells Tony Hall in 13th position in 1 hour 09 minutes 32 seconds. 14 was a mountain run a distance of 12.8 miles from Builth Wells to Drovers (Epynt mountain) and Daniel Hooper finished in 24th position 1 hour 16 minutes 07 seconds, stage 15 8th Michael Davies 1 hour 16 minutes 28 seconds ran to Brecon , Haydn Lloyd finished in 1 hour 10 minutes 08 seconds to Brecon Reservoir and stage 17 to Merthyr Tydfil 11th Simon Hall 59 minutes 54 seconds, 37th Helen Willoughby ran to Abercynon in 1 hour 09 minutes 51 seconds and finished in 37th position, stage 19 to Caerphilly castle 17th Richard Marks 1 hour 13 minutes 03 seconds, and the final stage to Cardiff castle a distance of 10.7 miles was Gethin Jones and finished in 14th position in 1 hour 06 minutes 24 seconds.
