Five members from Sarn Helen running club participated in the 34th International Snowdon Race, is regarded as one of Europe’s toughest endurance challenges, the 10 mile race involves running from the edge of Lake Padarn in Llanberis to the highest summit in Wales and England to 3,560 feet  and back down.   

The winner of the race and for the fourth year was was Andi Jones of England in 1 hour 8 minutes 15 seconds, and in 16th position was Carwyn Thomas of Sarn Helen. 

Thomas had an excellent race and finished in 1 hour 13 minutes 53 seconds and was 4th in the open male category .  307th Dawn Kenwright 1 hour 54 minutes 31 seconds, 324th Gareth Jones 1 hour 57 minutes 25 seconds, 328th Caryl Davies 1 hour 58 minutes 31 seconds, and 387th Jan Jones 2 hours 12 minutes 2 seconds. 

Carwyn Thomas and Caryl Davies both had personal best times, Dawn Kenwright ran her first Snowdon race 30 years ago, and it was the first attempt for husband and wife Gareth and Jan Jones.
