Gilnockie Tower is the ONLY habitable Armstrong tower which is left in existence from the original 80 - 90 pele towers in the Eskdale and Liddesdale area. England can be seen from the top of the tower. Situated in a remarkably good defensive position, Gilnockie Tower was an excellent place to watch for a raid from across the border Largest and highest (60 ft.up) Armstrong Library and 2-star Museum. Gilnockie Tower is now managed by a subsidiary of the Armstrong Clan Association called Clan Armstrong Centre Ltd. Rallied on the night of the First Moon Landing in 1969 (not by Neil, by Ted Armstrong, Chief Executive of the Armstrong Clan Association) There are now elected branch convenors and established Bank Accounts in USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Scotland - to save the overseas members from paying bank charges The Armstrong Clan Association regularly holds a CLAN GATHERING; the next one has been provisionally arranged for Saturday, August 1st,2009 at the Queens_Hotel Lockerbie,Dumfriesshire,Scotland The first wedding ever held in Gilnockie Tower was on 23rd September, 2000, between Barry Armstrong and Catherine Jack with a piper playing the "Armstrong Reunion" composed by Pipe Major J. Traquair
