Welcome to Second Engineering's Presence on the World Wide Web this site introduces my railway wagons and some the services that SEng can provide people interested railways. If you're interested in railway history check out my Rolling stock or Railway info. If you have a railway preservation based project and need to hire an engineer's wagon have a look at the rolling stock pages or contact me. If you want a wagon check out my for sale pages or send me an email.
Our MissionSEng's primary mission is to support the infrastructure and operation of the Caledonian Railway (Brechin) Ltd. Secondary to this is general support for railway preservation.
Company ProfileSEng is primarily a holding organization for my railway wagons and trading name for the specialist services which can be provided by its partners. It is currently not intended to generate profits but is intended to further the development of railway preservation and possibly generate funds to maintain and develop SEng assets. SEng's capabilities include the ability to lift 48 tons of Ballast to site and then drop this without the need for unloading equipment using its 2 'Dogfish' ballast hoppers. When SEng's 'Shark' is fully operational it will allow this ballast to be spread without the need for a large PWay Gang. Prefabricated 32ft Track panels can be moved to site using SEng's Rectank where they can be dropped into place using a crane. Tools and smaller track materials can be moved using either SEng's Crab open wagon or Palvan van. All SEng's wagons are either through vacuum piped or vacuum brake fitted in addition to this SEng has a strategic goal of through air piping all vehicles. SEng has or can call on experience in sourcing vehicles from both rail companies and metal recyclers (Scrap men!). It also has experience of moving railway vehicles ranging from the light and relatively short 'Tope' wagon through to 20ton 'Shark' and BR Standard brakevans and 17ton bogie vehicles like the 'Rectank'. This experience includes the planning and loading of moves using standard 45ft trailers, low loaders and planning of moves using specialist commercial haulage companies. SEng also has expertise in the repair and management of preserved railway infrastructure. This experience has been gained supporting the infrastructure of the Caledonian Railway (Brechin) Ltd. Meanwhile once the track is repaired you may need spares for your wagons or alternatively need to plan or supervise the restoration of your wagons this is another area where SEng can help.
ContactFeel free to contact SEng, if you wish to view wagons see next section.
