![]() Mark's first
professional music was as lead guitarist with Matthew's Southern Comfort. The group stayed
together for three years in the early 1970s touring Europe and the USA as well as
recording five albums and had a worldwide hit with their version of Joni Mitchell's song
"Woodstock".Later in the 70s, Mark took up bass and toured and recorded with many well known stars including being a member of Cliff Richard's backing band from 1981. He first appeared with the Shadows on their 1987 tour as a temporary replacement for Alan Jones who was unavailable at that time because of his commitments with the musical TIME. After Alan's accident, Mark took over his role "permanently", playing bass on their tours and on their last two albums, the 1989 re-recording "At Their Very Best" and "Reflection".
He can also be heard on the album "Classic Guitar Moods" credited to "Mirage" (Mark, Warren Bennett and Mike Christer) and "Close to the Hedge" which must surely rate as one of the outstanding albums of 1996. |
