• Obituary: Inscription from Ringmer Church: St Mary the Virgin, Ringmer, East Sussex. Here lyeth the body of Sr. WILLIAM SPRINGETT KNT. eldest sonne and heire of HERBERT SPRINGETT of Sussex Esq. He married MARY PREUD the only daughter and heire of SIR JOHN PREUD KNT. (Collonell in the service of the United Provinces under the command of ye Prince of Orange) and of ANNE FAGGE his wife, one of the co-heires of EDWARD FAGGE of Ewell near Feversham in the count of Kent Esq. He had issue by MARY his wife one sonne JOHN SPRINGEIT and one daughter GUILIELMA MARIA POSTHUMA SPRINGETT: he (being a Collonel in ye service of ye Parliament at ye taking in of Arundel Castle in Sussex) there contracted a sickness whereof he died, February ye 3th Ano Dni: 1643; being 23 yeares of age. His wife in testimony of her deare affection to him hath erected this monument to his memory.
William married Mary PROUDE, daughter of Sir John PROUDE and Anne FAGGE. (Mary PROUDE was born in 1625 in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, England and died in 1682 in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, England.)
