Almost any of mans constructions of a mechanical nature has been reproduced in working miniature. From the early Greek machines to the complex machines of today. Some of the most popular subjects are items powered by steam. Other models include, internal combustion engines, ship models, aircraft and clocks. All over the world miniature examples have been constructed ,giving rise to the hobby of model engineering.

Sweet Pea.

A freelance narrow gauge steam locomotive which has been built all over the world to a track gauge of 5inches, and has an 0-4-0 wheel arrangement. Many cosmetic and engineering variations of the original design have been built. An 0-6-0 variation also exists known as the Metre Maid. A 3 1/2 inch version known as Sweet Violet and a 7 1/4 inch version ,Sweet William are also built. The Sweet Pea I am building below is an 0-4-2 with tender. Plans, castings and all materials are available from Blackgates Engineering at:-

Pictures shown below are not necessarily the best way of doing things,no doubt most people will have their preferred method.
