Welcome to the 315 Craft Apprentice Entry Website.

A few words from 315 Entry Webmaster:

This Site was first created in January 2001. Just under 31 years since 14 members of 315 Craft Apprentice Entry (Last of the Apprentice Telegraphists) finished their 12 months Telegraphist Trade Training and 'Passed Out' of Royal Air Force Cosford (at that time the RAF's No.2 School of TT) on the 7th May 1970 with the rank of Senior Air Craftsman (SAC).

I am proud of my association with the Royal Air Force and particularly of being a member of the 315th (Last of the Teleg's). I therefore wanted to try and create a focal point where ex members can share memories and keep in touch.

This site has a secondary function. To serve as a beacon for our Old Pals, who have still to make contact. Dave Gibson, Paul Edge & Brian Challoner. Also for anyone else who might want to get in touch again. Don't forget to either e-mail us or sign the Guest Book.

Stuart Sinclair.

The History of 315 Entry
IN THE BEGINNING

On the 1st of May 1969,  twelve young,   innocent,   unsuspecting lads arrived at the gates of RAF Cosford,  (At that time it was the RAF's No.2 School of Technical Training)  and formed the 315th Craft Apprentice Entry  (Last of the Telegraphist Apprentices).

The original members who were destined to maintain the luster of the wooden floor boards in Fulton Block for the next 12 months, were:-

  • Brian Challoner
  • Paul Cookson
  • Nigel Clegg
  • Pete Edgar
  • Paul Edge
  • Colin Cousins
  • Dave Fowler
  • Dave Gibson
  • Paul Harryman
  • John Hetherington
  • Paul Howlett
  • Ray Woolley

Terry Brown (back row left) & John Nex - who remustered (front row center) (Both Ex 213 Entry RAF Cosford) were both there when I, Stu Sinclair (back row 3rd from left) arrived on the scene a few days later (Ex 214 Entry at RAF Halton).

At the time,  the senior Telegraphist Entry on the wing was 313 Entry,  who's newly appointed Leading Apprentices ruled the roost,  with 314 Entry being almost halfway through their trade training.

Over the coming months the Entry was to change dramatically  -  For various reasons,  five of the original members,  Pete Edgar,  Nigel Clegg,  Dave Fowler,   Colin Cousins? & Paul Howlett,  decided to either leave the RAF or remuster to other trades.

The following Apprentices: Terry Garner,  Kerry Hannan, Stephen Aldridge and Alan Montague,  made up the remainder of the final fourteen who passed out on the 7th May 1970,   joining 315 after either remustering or being back entried.

315 Entry - Reunions

Reiunion 4th/5th June 2005

Our Reunion was held on the Weekend of 4th/5th June 2005 at RAF Cosford. The Reunion was an overwhelming experience and a resounding success.

A big thank you to John Hetherington for arranging everything and to all the personnel at RAF Cosford for their efforts and the hard work and enthusiasm displayed, which helped to make our stay very memorable indeed.

This was the first time many of us had seen each other for 35 years and to our great surprise many of the guys hadn't changed a bit in all that time. (Well maybe just a wee bit). Paul Harryman proposed a toast to absent friends, whom we are still trying to contact and to our Old Pal Monty who sadly passed away in December 2003.

On a brighter note and one of the highlights was a telephone call from Paddy Aldridge all the way from New Zealand. Nice one Paddy, much appreciated, fantastic surprise and you took the time to chat with every one of us.

See Below for the Obligatory Group Photo outside Fulton Block:

Roll Call:
