Just checked out your web site - pretty good but as an ex Craft Apprentice at Halton 71-73 all craft courses were 2 years not one, as I understand it 300 series were admin entries..

Just to put the record straight. Telegraphist Apprentices, although 300 series, were known as Craft Apprentices, (Training included Basic Radio Theory & the First Line Maintainance of Telegraphic Equipment).
Since the last of the Telegraphist Entry's "315" passed out in May 1970, It is quite understandable that Mr R Rodham who joined the RAF in 1971, should assume 300 series were all Admin.

Great to find the site and see how many of the old entry are in touch. Be good to find out what everyone is up to after all this time. I'm now living in North London but I bet you can't guess what I'm doing with myself now (No obscene answers Woolley). All will be revealed eventually. Look forward to meeting up again soon. Maybe Cosford will let us rent the old room for a reunion, as long as we don't have to knick any of Ben's blanket to bull the floor afterwards.
Listening - out.

PS. The Earls Court picture brought back memories. I should have been banging the bass drum but Dave Gow (Jock Git) beat me to it and I ended up having to open & close the big Arena doors - Happy days

Great site. We had nothing like this when I was there - (309th Teleg entry May 1967 - April 1968. Found this site whilst trawling the web for any information on the aircraft on the parade square. We were told that it was a post war Seafire, but others say that it's a Spitfire. I have yet to find a definitive answer.
Both my mum and dad as well as myself and one of my brothers have all been based at Cosford at some stage of our careers in the RAF.

Was in 311 entry Jan 68 to Dec 68, so didn't know any of you chaps, but
you have obviously put in a lot of work
to make this an excellent site, especially the photos. Have just noticed in your guest Book someone mentioning 591 SU's 50th anniversary in 2002. I was at Digby from 1973 to 1977, a couple of years at 399 SU, then a couple at 591. (591 definitely had the edge!)
I'm very much out of touch with the RAF these days..is Cosford still going as a RAF camp?
All the best to you all.

Dear Christopher,
Thank you for signing the 315 Entry Guest Book.
I was 15yrs and 9months old when I joined the Royal Air Force as a Craft Apprentice, it all seems a very long time ago now.
Some of the best times of my life were spent in the RAF and I have some fantastic memories especially during training. (Square bashing).
No doubt you will have some experience, especially if your Dad spent 16 yrs in the RAF.
If I can give you any advice, it would be, to work hard at school and try and achieve the best grades you can. Then if you still want to join the RAF, you will have a better choice of which trade group/branch you wish to join.
Christopher, I wish you luck for the future and I can think of far worse things, than following your Dad’s foot steps.
All the very best,
Stuart Sinclair
