Hi sinclair,
Do you still remember me? I was the one who was put incharge of you all in Fulton Block. Well time flies, and since I returned to Malaysia, I lost contact with you all.

Very sad to discover that cheery wag Monty has left us. I have a very vivid memory in the summer of 1969 of a bank holiday weekend, where I was one of a few apprentices who were going to be staying on our Apprentice camp at Cosford, instead of going home due to the distance, (Jockland was hard to visit/return in a weekend in those days)....when Monty insisted I spend the long weekend with him and his family at Northam by Bideford in sunny Devon.
We hitched all the way in our uniforms, arrived early next morning in a lorry cab (almost as far as Jockland)...and I was promptly introduced to Monty's dad, a fellow Jock, who I was brought home to chinnywag and translate for.
A fantastic weekend in that wee toun was enjoyed, and we hitched in reverse via Exeter back to RAF Cosford.
I have never forgotten that thoughtful kindness Monty offered me, and whenever I hear the town of Bideford being mentioned, I zoom straight back to that "Summer of '69" moment. It was a Mexican stand-off, his mates fair enjoyed the novelty of my accent, and I thought their's was a fabby giggle too...Halcyon days indeed.
Monty was a cheery and quite simply a wonderfully likeable lad. I last saw him when we were briefly at RAF Benson (TCW) just before I left the RAF in 1975, he had married a beautiful and very lovely lady from Lima in Peru, who he had met on a TCW jaunt there, if I remember right, and we had caught up on the years in between.
Hope my wee memory brings a smile to his family, he aint forgotten up here in sunny Edinburgh, thats for sure.....
Having just left the flat earth and got a bloody computer, wot I said I would never do...can I just say hi to any auld faces, in particular Bill Currie who still holds that grudge about me blagging myself onto that Bass drum at Earl's Court (first time I have seen that photo, me smack in middle wiv contested drum)...sorry Bill, still a 36 year old apology better than nowt, arf arf. Your rhythm on the hanger doors was good at least, arf arf. cheers... Dave Gow, ex 313 entry (whaurs oor site ???!!!)

Gow Boy - Apology accepted, I'm not one to bear a grudge after 36 years - 35 years maybe! Remind me, were you at the front with the tenor drummers, I think Paddy Malone of 21? was one and the other was the Malaysian lad, Zubir I think? I met up with Paddy Malone again in 1984 when he was a Sgt techie on a Tornado Sqn at Laarbruch. If you were at the back with the brass, then you would have been in best blue. In which case I think I was the first bass drummer to get to wear the Anderson tartan, kilt, plaid, spats, the lot. They made us wear our shreddies underneath though. I'll never forget Battle of Britain anniversary when the pipe band played at the opening of a pub in Wolverhampton (pub called the Battle of Britain strangely enough). I think I supped 3 free pints of Mitchell and Butlers that night, I was

My last message got cut off due to a server fault. Anyway, to end the story, after supping the 3 free pints of Mitchell & Butlers, the 16 year old Currie was out of his tree and spent most of the next day out of classes and inside the toilets outside the hangar. Happy days!

From a "direct entry" It is nice to see so many names that I thought had been lost in the mists of a memory fading through the advancing years.
You and others should be applauded for your efforts.

Cheers Mo, it was a fantastic weekend. Paul's digestive system? Quite frankly, he only had a problem on Friday the 3rd and it was to do with a certain burnt offering - but the meat and potato pie was lovely, I'll vouch for that! Paul, we can't apologise enough matey.

Hello members of 315, from a member of 314.. fantastic to visit some
memories.. did we ever look that young?? Congratulations on a good
site..i have already looked up the link to 314 and will be contacting the
old gits on there.
In case you are scratching your heads as to who i might be, i was
Ben's handler for the teleg entry, and given the nickname of Ben
thereafter, changing to toby on other stations ... I note that you have lost
paul Edge.. i became quite friendly with him on my last posting at High
wycombe, and was his best man on his marriage to his wife sharon.. the
last i hear , and that was in 1983, was that he had moved up towards his
home area, which i never discovered the whereabouts of...
I was very upset to hear the news of Monty. I was posted with him
onto 38 GP TCW, and shared a room at Tangmere with him and others, inc
kerry Hanna, the karate kid.I note what happened at Earls Court,
thankfully i didnt do that one, but i did go to the liverpool show where Ben
was scared by the starting cartridges of a helicopter and dragged me, out
of control, through a whole crowd of the public, which appeared in the
local Liverpool newspaper, it would appear he had the facility to
embarras us all.. Well i shan,t take up to much space.. it was nice to look
upon some old faces again and nice to know that we are still ditting
and dotting on. Regards to you all and best wishes for the future
Dobu Tobutt
p.s. you will get this twice as i didnt rate your site,... that is
remedied - Rating:5

Found this website whilst browsing for RAF Cosford. Saw Bill Curries
name and kept trawling. Recognise some of the names whose paths I have
crossed over the years including Steve Sayers whom I served in Gan with
and Bill Currie at JOC Maastricht. It doesn't seem 2 minutes since
those happy days.
Nice site and I will come back again
