where to buy

Yes we all love mail order prices. But a good local bike shop is worth the extra. Who else is gonna press that headset in nice and square? It can be donw with a vice (or vise for you Americans) but it's just not the same is it? And what mail order guy is gonna make sure your bottom bracket threads are aligned?

Which is why a good LBS matters and a good LBS mechanic is worth his weight in Jaffa cakes.

Let's not name the dross - like the shop that overtightened the workstand putting Colnago style dings in the top-tube of my new Dave Yates. That will just depress us all. Instead tell us about the best LBS in your area. The one you tell others to frequent when they discover your a biker and ask the inevitable. We're starting it off small with the ones we trust. Use the feedback pagefeedback to nominate your favourite.

Bicycle Repair Collective

Rent space and tools for $5/hr and they charge just a bit for help. You can figure out how to do anything you want to do on your bike and get to use all the coolest tools you'd never want to pay for. Plus they always have some odd part laying around that is just what you're looking for.

Thanks to Jackson Wild for this one. Ooh, do you think they have a Park Tools headset press. Or a Campagnolo bottom bracket reamer. I'm getting tool envy right now...

Bicycle Trip

We liked them when we were out in California. Owner Mark Michel regularly makes the trip across the pond to race the Three Peaks cyclo-cross race. He's that hard

Buy A Bike

They might blow cred by having a Christmas club but lets not get all bike snobbish about a shop that'll do their best to order it if they don't have it. Great service great prices and something for everyone from beginner to serious.

John Atkins Cycles

Single speed and tandem friendly. Singlespeed stuff from Surly, 1x1, Pauls componetnts, Machine Tech (oooh), or your desires to order.

Custom builds. Damn fine wheel builder - and it's always worth knowing a damn fine wheel builder.

Sideways Cycles

We owe a big apology to TIm from Sideways cycles for being complete slackers and not getting his details up here. We'll just have to buy him a few pints of beer next time we meet. Of course this will be after we have tried tussling elbows with him while riding, eh Tim :-)

Sideways Cycles cares about you, we stock SS stuff (not just get it to order) and ride and understand the SS ethos - I think.

We stock parts from Spot, Surly, Hope, Chris King, Phil Wood, DMR, RaceFace and others. We stock frames from On-One, Spot, Santa Cruz, DeKerf and others from time to time. We have test bikes you can try and a nice three hour off road ride from the door of the shop.

We are conveniently located five minutes from junction 16 of the M6 motorway and we have a cappuchino maker.

We also ride at night - join us on any Thursday, you will be welcome. Bring beer money.
