Feudal Archers was formed in February 1998 by an experienced group of re-enactors, as a living history group based on the period 1135 to 1216, spanning the reigns of four kings - Stephen, Henry II, Richard I and John.

We try to portray many aspects of life in the 12th Century in a living history environment. To do this we show an authentic campsite with cooking over an open fire, along with the demonstration of various crafts appropriate to the period. Some tents are open to view how medieval people may have lived whilst on the move.

Archery is a mainstay of the group, as our name suggests, so you can see us shooting at most events where it is safe to do so. Our members are skilled with the medieval Longbow and some also with the crossbow. You can see what effect medieval arrows and crossbow bolts have on chain mail and maybe witness an engagement between archers and a moving shield wall. At suitable locations a working replica ballista (siege engine) can be seen and a comparison of power between the weapons can be made.

Hand to hand combat with the sword and other weapons of the time also forms part of our day and visitors to our events can see the kind of training which went into honing the skills of the combatant knights.

All our members are pleased to engage in conversation with visitors and describe the details of dress, weaponry, food, crafts and customs of the day.
