Along with most other aspects of the 12th century, trying to find hard evidence of any aspect of archery is difficult! The 11th century is well represented due to the Norman invasion of England in 1066. The 13th -15th centuries are progressively well documented, in part due to the rise in importance of the archer.  However, combining the available evidence with a certain amount of interpretation, it is possible to build an impression of the archer and his weapon.

The links to the left will take you to pages that discuss various aspects of archery in the 12th century.
