He is the fourth son of minor nobility and has spent many years learning his trade in universities such as Padua and others in the Byzantine Empire.  There he also practised and developed his skills, surgery becoming a particular interest, especially battlefield surgery. Sir Geffrye and Sir Richard were glad of his expertise during the Third Crusade. Since then he has been employed by Lady Matilda de Braose in support of her fighting men. His many skills include the removal of arrows and bleedings.   At over 6ft in height and with tremendous strength he also makes a good warrior. In the accompanying pictures you can see him with his battle axe and spear whilst wearing the armour from the earlier part of the period depicted by Feudal Archers, the reign of King Stephen.
