Rachael House

Rachael House is an artist who lives in London. Her work reflects her interests in carnival, community, low-tech materials and socially engaged practice. At the core of her practice Rachael has a desire to democratise art, and make it available to those who may not visit galleries and museums. To this end she has taken projects to bars, nightclubs and other public spaces, and she has made art projects that have a participatory element.

Before returning to education and gaining a Fine Art BA from Central Saint Martins in 2004, Rachael made small press comics and fanzines. She was also a Southwark youth worker, working with groups of young women and young people with learning disabilities.

Rachael is a co-director, with Jo David, of artist-run Space Station Sixty-Five in East Dulwich.

She has a cat called Misty.
