We met in the editorial office of the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy in London, where, from 1985 until 1993, we worked on the IMM's journals. During this time we successfully transferred all the office's editorial and administrative processes from paper-based methods to the computer screen. We also created administrative databases for our own office and the conference office, as well as installing a computer system for the chief and his secretary.
It was on the Apple Mac computers on our own desks that, from 1990, we honed our present skills of producing journals and books, adding electronic typesetting to editing and page make-up skills learned the traditional way - with pen, paper, scissors and glue! We also learned how to set maths and produce technical illustrations.
In 1993 we left the Institution with a contract to produce its journals and from 1997 went completely independent, eventually turning the partnership into a limited company in 2002. We have undertaken a wide range of work for individual and corporate clients and businesses of all sizes, from editing and proofreading to the production of press-ready, complex illustrated works. We work as a team and we don't outsource or subcontract.
