One of his poem's entitled "My
Church" is as follows:
Thou art the harbour of the souls
I love;
Tossed on the billows of life's stormy seas,
From week to week thy safe repose they prove,
And yield heaven heartfelt thanks on bended knee.
Sweet music fills the consecrated shrine
The grateful praises of my little flock
The willing soul here feels the touch divine
And plants iteself more firmly on the rock
Oft have I witnessed on the anxious face
Tears, the sweet symbols of a contrite heart,
And oft a light of heavenly joy could trace,
In eyes of those who chose the "better part".
