Organist
and Choirmaster - Jim Parkhill L.T.C.L., A.L.C.M.
I have been Organist and Choirmaster at St. Augustine's Church since
December 1968 and hold the record of being the longest serving
organist during the history of the church ( 32 years at present ).
My musical career has consisted of :-
Conducting choirs, bands and ensembles;
Head of Music at a local Secondary School;
Composing and arranging for School Orchestra, Choirs, Bands, Solo
Instrumental pieces and Tutor books for keyboard playing.
Since taking early retirement I now work part - time at the City Academy
of Music and Drama teaching piano, keyboard and organ.
Here at St. Augustine's we have a very enthusiastic four part choir
of 24
singers who perform at most services throughout the year and have in
the past broadcast on BBC radio 4, BBC world service and RTE radio,
and have also participated in a number of BBC 'Songs of Praise'
television programmes. |

The Organ
The organ is two manual with full pedal board and was originally built
by Peter Conacher & Co. In 1983 it was rebuilt by Wells - Kennedy
Partnership and provides excellent tone colours for the
accompaniment
of the services.
