St Bees Index - - - - Home Page
St Bees has two beaches, both gently sloping and free from dangerous currents. However, as always, caution should be exercised when in the water, particularly with off-shore winds. With both beaches, the upper sections are pebbled (mainly round granite pebbles 2 - 6" diameter), but the lower sections, particularly at the Main Beach, are sandy. The sandy areas are accessible at all times except for 2 or 3 hours on either side of high tide, when only the pebbled areas are clear of water. St Bees was awarded a Yellow Flag Award last summer recognising the cleanliness of the area. |
