Ann Bolton
Baptised at Crosthwaite 8th February 1786, daughter of John and Frances Bolton. Father John Bolton was servant to Joseph Pocklington of Barrow House on the shores of Derwent Water for many years. Ann married Robert Proddow at Crosthwaite on 15th November 1803. They had 9 children, John 1804 (whilst living at High Hill), Esther (at Stair)1807, Simeon 1810, Robert 1812, Joseph 1817, William 1819, Ann 1821, Sarah 1824, Jane 1829. John, Esther & Jane were baptised at Crosthwaite, the rest at Newlands by Keswick. They later moved to Ellel where Ann died in 1854 aged 69, she is buried in the cemetery along with husband Robert and daughter Sarah. The cemetery is less the a mile away from the busy M6 which can be clearly seen and heard, a rather different scene from when the Proddow gravestone was first raised.
